Anyone else get really cold legs and feet (especially in the night)? Plus, do any of you get woken up with pins and needles in your hands?

I did get pins and needles for a while but it has gone for the moment. The cold legs and feet are another thing!! they are freezing nearly all the time. I now go to bed witih pyjamas; bed socks and mittens - truly a vision of loveliness. My daughter bought me a little dog that goes in the microwave oven and I use that when it gets very cold. Have just re-read this message and I do, of course, mean a toy dog. Love MaryH xxx.

LOL MaryH ...so glad you corrected that :-)

I most definitely have the cold hands and feet most of the time, even on hot days, so I wear extra socks and mittens. Then one foot will overheat and swell and I will have to let it cool off for a bit! Then the process starts again.

I was thinking I didn't get the numbness and tingling so much but now I think about it I do but not the full blown pins and needles type unless I sleep too heavily on a hand or something but i probably don't sleep for long enough stretches now for it to be an issue.

Hi Hilda

I get the same pins and needles and numbness, takes a while to get moving in a morning. also very cold feet and hands, but do have Raynauds. Quite common in Aps I believe.

Extra socks and gloves. Legs, ankles and feet swell like crazy too.

Take care gentle hugs love Sheena xxxxxxxx :-) :-) :-)

Hi there

I do as soon as I've been sitting still for a while or lying down for a bit. My doctor reckons it's a side effect from one of my meds! I don't actually buy that

So, I am not alone!

Thanks for all the replies.

I suppose the next question is "is this an APS thing, or is it an age and/or gender thing?"!

I get a cold right leg and belly at night and cramps and pins an needles in my shoulders and numb hands sometimes. When I get up in the morning the soles of my feet are puffed up and give me trouble standing for a couple of minutes along with pins and needles. I have spent a fortune on buying beds but now I sleep on our sofa which is in fact a top of the range sofa and very comfortable. Still get problems though. I get cold legs below the knees if I sit at a computer for more than 30 minutes which makes things hard because I have to use the internet a lot. I am fine when I keep moving but as soon as I sit down or lie down the problems start. I suspect it is the sticky blood which does not give as much trouble when I keep the blood flowing.

Apparently it is impossible for inflammation to occur if the blood is moving quickly. Hence all my problems at night I suppose.

I have incredibly cold feet and hands, especially at night. Oddly, usually a cold nose too. I get pins and needles really quickly and often wake up with a dead arm, which I get confused about in my half awake haze!

My daughter experiences a whole range of temperature symptoms but the coldness (particularly in the legs and hands) seems to be a common complaint with apls.

She sleeps with a fan going and often uses freezer packs for the headaches,

which she says are a common thing.

Yes. Feet can both be cold, and one colder than the other, and pins and needles in hands not caused by sleeping on the limb.
