Strictly my cholesterol *ratio* is high. mainly due to very low HDL - my LDL is not especially high on its own. Nonetheless I am on atorvastatin and also bezafibrate to boost HDL. My GPs philosophy is that given my APS, making sure my circulatory system is in good nick otherwise is essential, if for no other reason than increasing the odds of survival if I have another major clotting event.

My cholesterol was 6 but when broken down only 2.8 was "bad" and 3.2 "good" but because of my history (heart probs in family) I was put on statins anyway.

It is still around 6.

Hi

My cholesterol was discovered to be high 9.6 by St Thomas's, started on Sinvastatin which worked but caused muscle cramps amd damage, so now on atorvastatin it's working and no side effects. My parents both on Sinvastatin no problems with it, go figure!?!? :-) I see a professor of chemical pathology who says as my high cholesterol is familial diet changes wouldn't really help! Although i am careful what I eat!

Hugs Sheena xxxxx :-) :-) :-)

My cholesterol level was 5.2 but GP wanted to get it down further because of the vascular/arterial disease. Statins caused side effects so couldn't take them. Managed to get level down by low fat diet, no red meat and the final clincher was Weetabix cereal. Result cholesterol now down to 4.7 and a very happy GP.
