Hang in there. Help us on the way. Try not to get too far ahead of yourself. Much will depend on the length of time you have had the virus and the scarring of the liver. Also you may have other underlying health conditions. No alcohol or drugs until you know what your dealing with. Eat healthily! Walks & meditation have helped me.

Try not googling too much. Google is not your dr. Your GP can help you. Are you in UK?

I'm sure there is a hep c network - we have one here inNZ.

Anyway breathe deeply, try to stay calm, and buckle up because it may be a bumpy ride ahead.

Keep us posted!

Steph

Thank you for the reply so far these past few weeks I have actually been feeling a little better I've learned what triggers me I've also found out that they think something may be going on with my heart. Waiting on the harvoni to come. In the meantime my family doctor has put me on Xanax and cymbalta do you know if this kind of medicine is ok? Or typically prescribed? So now I am waiting to start the good meds??? I think??? And I am from the u.s I'll keep updating and questions

Ask when treatment starts. There are new treatments now. They work. If you are geno type 1 you have the hardest type to cure. I had it. I was cured with a new treatment in 3 months. My first treatment was an older one, it was shots of interferon for a year with ribavarin pills. It did not work. You need a lot of exercise and rest. Do not salt your foods, causes fluid retention. Give up any junk food and drinks. Happy to answer any questions, I had it without knowing it for 31 years. Found out then old drugs did not work, too ill for treatment till they created the new drugs a couple years back then I tried one of those and it killed the virus. Best of luck...

Hi Catfishjumpin,

I am virus undetected at the moment and have just a few weeks more treatment to go. Feeling a lot better and might feel amazing were it not for other health condition.

I rarely write on posts but felt I had to correct something a previous poster had said to you. Genotype 1 is not the hardest to treat it is one of the easiest in fact. I am genotype 1b and have been taking generics. Look at a website called FixhepC it is backed totally by the hep C Trust. There you will get fantastic support and advice from people who have also been through it and many are now SVR .

Please don't despair there is help out there if you want to take control of your own health. I found waiting for the NHS to help for over 20 years was just too long a ride!!!!!! Whatever you do I would advise against any Interferon based treatments there are new DAAs that are working brilliantly for people and remember your genotype is one of the easier to treat. Wishing you well on your journey to health .

I have been treated twice. The virus is dead since 2014. The cancer began with the treatment so I have now lived 2 1/2 years with cancer. I now have 2 organ cancers. I am geno type 1b. I am 65. I must have not noticed I failed to put in the b. Thank you anyway. Aloha

Hi, glad to read your post. Encouraging. Will go with new treatment from N.H.S. No rush I've had it since 45 years with little damage, just tired.

I agree im geno 1a

My virus load was 250 thousand 21% cerrousus.

After 2 weeks of Abbie 3D my load was just 30

Yes wow I'm waiting for week 4 blood now.

This is low count as it can go up to millions.

It's caused other heath issues but that's just me others may not have issues.

Regardless it sucks having hep c and in a way we are so fortunate to get treatment.

12 years ago my aunty had the same thing but passed away bless her

Not enough info back then.

So silver linnings for us

I drove myself crazy with googling it landed me in hospital so I only come on Here and other heathy eating sites.

Good luck to everyone we are all diffrent and react diffrent to hep c meds

Keep positive x

Glad to hear the recent cure worked. I've had hep c for over 40 years 30 of which I didn't know I had it. Do you feel better now you have cleared the virus? I'm thinking of a course of the more recent tablets.

Check out Hepatitis Central .com to find others with questions and answers about Hep. C and also American Liver foundation for info. Go one step at a time there are cures out there . you need from your doctor a viral load test and a sonogram of your Liver to see extent of damage a CBC blood test to see if any imbalances are there to start with.
