Hello misty, You don,t give much information such as are you in England. If you are then there are new drugs out for hep C which are much easier on the system than the old regimes which are free on the N.H.S. I,m not sure about funding in the U.S . I have recently finished a 12wk course and am virus not detected, but I do know however that we were warned against becoming pregnant during treatment as it could lead to birth defects. So, I would imagine there is no problem treating you once you have come to term it,s just a question of at what age the child can be treated if indeed they prove to have contracted the virus also. Don,t worry, it can be sorted. it would be advisable for you to contact the Hep C trust who could answer that for you. (just type in Hep C trust helpline into the search engine ) They are great, and will be able to guide you. The type of treatment you will be offered depends on things such as what geno type the virus is. The success rate for first time treatment is high (around 90 %) so do try not to worry too much. Oh, just to mention if you do have the odd drink then it,s important you stop... Hep and alcohol are not good bedfellows, also it dosn,t mix with the new treatment drugs. Best wishes for your pregnancy , look after the both of you , and give the trust a ring. Regards. anne.

Hi there, found out I had hep C in 2015, I was infected back in 1988 from a blood transfusion following a miscarriage. Even though I was oblivious to the fact that I had hep C I went on to have 2 children. Both had to be tested when I was diagnosed and they were both fine.....no hep C!!!! The chances of passing it on to your baby are really slim, however I completely understand that this must be a very worrying time for you. Take care & best wishes

Hi, I had hep c at age 20 in 1971. I am today almost 65. Neither of my children have hep c. Its very difficult, very rare for it to interact with the placenta and fetus. If you breast feed you may want to put off treatment until your baby is weened. Try not to worry. If you are young then you have time to get this taken care of and live a healthy life free of hep c. Not worry is the best thing you can do for your baby and yourself. Time will heal you. Be well and strong.
