Hi all, I received my blood work today, pos. For hep c. Is there a way of knowing if it was my partner ( intercourse @ 6 months ago, I believe he has been cheating) or it was dormant for ? I am 61. Never used needles, or been in contact with someone's blood .

Tests should show if chronic ie had long time
I'm 61 too and had 35 years
Other tests should reveal your viral load,liver condition etc
Many have been cured with the latest meds.

Sex is not a proven transmission route unless you have HIV so best not to blame him, at 61 you will have run all the medical risks that infected 200 million with HCV up until 1992. Especially get liver function blood tests done and a liver ultra sound scan to see if the virus is affecting your liver at all. Avoid alcohol, fried foods and long term prescriptions that can make the virus more active. We recommend checking them with your liver team.
