Patient has Urobilinogen of 3.2. how can he clear Typhoid Fever?
continue with another 10 days ciprofloxacin or transfer to mega doses of Bactrim forte?
note:
1- Patient has Hepatitis B but have no visible signs of liver damage from body scan only a small fatty liver but do complain about pains from time to time and is unable to test for HBV viral Load and Liver Enzymes due to over priced testing. .. 2- no history of Diabetes or Heart Problems.
3- have asthma and takes Seretide
4- EU Patient will return to Europe on 14th september where Healthcare is free.
5- patient has taken Ciprofloxacin 4 times this year to treat Widal 1/160 without any problems.
any Advice on the best strategy in meantime?
take up new medicine or wait for a second opinion in Europe?
If should take new medicine will b complex vitamins a guarantee that it wont damage the Liver?

Hi , is the patient yourself or are you asking for a friend ? I myself have Hep. B and asthma , but I am not medically qualified and your questions need a degree of medical knowledge to give you an answer . I can try and look these things up later if you like . What I can tell you is that asthma treatment ( in my case at least ) does not interfere with Hep. B treatment . My Hep. B viral count was so high it was off the scale when first diagnosed , but is now undetectable and has been for years . See you have also posted this on the Hep.B forum , which is probably the best place for this discussion .
For myself i'm one of those guys afraid of antibiotic, and was detected with typhoid fever, but the medicine they prescribe me is a strong one because the previous treatment failed with cilrofloxacin i dont know if can go for 10 days one pill twice daily of "Bactrim forte".
I alredy taken two pills .
Sometimes doctors prescribe us with B vitamines , if this is enough to protect me while i'm on treatment then good if not i just have to pray my liver doenst get damaged.
How did you get your viral load undetectable ? Special diet ?
Hi Roger , I must tell you first of all that I am not a medical professional , so can only tell you what I know from my own experience .
I was diagnosed with HIV and Hep.B ten years ago . The fact I was co-infected has complicated treatment , but fortunately some of the medicines for both conditions are the same . Hep.B is a virus so antibiotics will have no effect on it . To treat Hep.B you need to be on the correct antiretrovirals . There is no other way to treat the condition . My viral count came down quite quickly once I started treatment , but at the time it was all over shadowed by the HIV . I have had several scans which have shown my liver is in good shape . Think the infection needs to go untreated a long time before it does damage . Good diet can only help your liver to stay in good condition , it isn't a cure . One of the worst things you can do is drink alcohol .
Typhoid is a serious illness and I would think your first priority is to get that under control . It is VERY IMPORTANT with these diseases to adhere to what ever medication program you are put on .
I hope it helps . Hep.B is a slow progressing disease that can have serious consequences if left untreated , but the first most important thing is to cure the typhoid .
