Getting Told You Have Hep C.

When your first diagnosed with Hep C ask questions as I can remember when I was first told and I cried all the way home as I thought I was going to die within a short time as I knew nothing about the disease then. So look up Hep C support online and ask them what ever you want all their volunteers and workers have had or have Hep C awaiting treatment and they can answer all your questions and point you in the right directions, they also send you out a lot of helpful information as it is a lot to take in. Then go to your GP and ask for a referral so you can get a fibro-scan which is painless, I'm a large woman so went to Kings for mine which is actually the best hospital in London to go to for Hep C and then you will get assigned a consultant you will have a blood test to check your genotype and viral load so they can deem what shape your liver is in, I know its scary but its all straight forward and its best it has been caught as many people like myself show no symptoms.

Myself as soon as I knew I stopped drinking and smoking and would say if possible you do the same. The most important thing is not to panic, I know easy to say and I panicked but nobody explained it to me. Once you have had all the tests you will be put on a list for treatment, yes good news Hep C can be wiped out with the new medications they have today, well you have a good chance of clearing it anyway and the liver is a great organ that with a bit of help can heal itself, I'm currently on medication and my viral count has already dropped massively :) Oh and I have realised I was having symptoms but just thought I felt tired all the time due to other things. So please don't panic its best you have found you have it, and believe me by the time you have finished you will be an expert on it :)

Take Care :) Bx
