Hi there 👋🏼

Treatment will be determined by what hcv genotype you have, and overall health in general. When I was first diagnosed my doctor waited a bit before choosing a course of treatment due to the fact that I was too sick to start medications, but not yet sick enough to be put on a transplant list. That was just my situation however, and there are other factors with my case such as cirrhosis, kidney problems, and a blood disorder.

Each case is unique to the individual patient I believe due to other various complications that can occur with the hcv.

The good news is you’ve been diagnosed and can now start the necessary steps for treatment. I’m sure you have a ton of questions; make notes so you can discuss them with your healthcare team, and try not to overwhelm yourself searching the internet (I did that, and it just added to the stress and fear I was feeling when I first was diagnosed)

Having a good support system is important as well, learn on those there for you when you need to, and I’m glad you’ve found this group as well.

I'm assuming from your name you live in Wales as do I ..i would say overall the wait for treatment is longer here so ask your doctor has he referred you to be seen by the heptology team most hospitals here have one a team of nurse specialist's ..get your genotype and your fibroscan asap and get on the treatment as quick as you can ..I was diagnosed in September and only in April did I get to see right people things are moving faster now but I'm still not actually having treatment as nobody did the genotype blood test and I'm waiting for that result ..I'm confident that now I'm on right track but like you told I had Hep C and nothing else ..this site will help but you need to be Pro active in dealing with it ..there are brilliant treatments available now with Excellent results so good luck xxxx

Yes thanks Alan I am ok I am in some pain with swollen legs and some low back pain ..I have had some procedures to remove lump found and some other stuff but have now seen right team as I suspected I was on wrong waiting list..the bowel problems sort of sidelined the hep C but hoping to start treatment soon I have been told Marviret or Harvoni depending on type ..I've been frustrated but hoping now I'm on home straight ..my liver showed no sign of fibrosis or fat and was only just above normal readings ..there was inflammation but she didn't seem overly concerned with that so fingers crossed ...hope you too are well as can be expected xxx
