Hi I was diagnosed with hep c in January 18 and had a fibroscan which registered a score of 6. This has all come as a bit of a shock, as my turbulent youth was 40 yrs ago!

Hi jea123 🙋 Getting diagnosed is a shock when you have no idea but good that you have been so as you can now receive treatment. Good fibroscan score so hopefully you can have treatment soon. I received medication approx 6 weeks after fibroscan. There is a protocol in place for hep c treatment but as prices drop & meds are more efficient treatment is rolling out faster. Depends where one lives, how sick one is, funding & so on. The specialist liver nurse assigned to patient is the norm & she /he is your first point of contact. Mine gave me a phone number, made appts & further blood tests. You will glean lots of information from hep c trust & this forum is great for support as we are in the same boat.

best wishes 😍😍

Hello

Glad you found this forum! I'm sorry you've had that shock news, everyone here can relate to how you're feeling right now. I know it's hard but try not to hammer yourself over things that happened decades ago. It doesn't matter how you contracted it, the important thing is to focus on how to get rid of it and to live well!

As said in other posts, don't Google randomly, write on here and talk to the Hep C Trust helpline as they are the experts. They have up to the minute information and it's essential to have a place where you can talk out loud about this to people who know all the sides of Hep C.

There is good news as there is a greater chance now than ever before of getting a treatment that both has a very good chance of working and has minimal side effects.

Keep asking questions until you feel that shock wearing off and be good to yourself. You're not a bad person for having this virus.

Hi Jea123 welcome it’s nice to see another member of the club😊 your fibro scan is ok😊. So once you have had all the tests hopefully you will be offered treatment. It’s like Nav said at the moment it seems to depend on what area you are living determines how fast you will receive treatment.

Seems unfair but protocol👎

I know here in Liverpool they take 41 people on a month.I’m not sure on other parts of the country. Your in the system now so hopefully it will Be soon.

This is a lovely community so your in the right place for advice and support.

Try not to worry it will be ok! Lots of love Cathy xxx
