Hard to figure this out as was only actually diagnosed within the last 12months following an atypical pneumonia, when, after tests and among other things, they found i had liver damage and so tested me for Hep C. So the short answer is: i don't know.

Thank you - good point, many people are the same and so I have added in a 'don't know' option!

I personally think this poll question is misleading...the problem with hep c is often people only experience 'symptoms when their liver is effected and damage is done which is why hep c is known as the silent killer. ..many of us found out about our hep c by chance through routine blood tests. Maybe that's why so many people are walking around with undiagnosed hep c thinking they're fit and well because they don't have any symptoms at all

Thanks for your feedback Tess, I have added in a 'don't know' option if you can't pinpoint your symptoms as those being for liver disease/not experiencing symptoms.

I was going to my GP for years with different symptoms - asked to be tested for diabetes and other due to lack of energy - which turned out to be (probably) the symptoms of Hep c

I did not experience any symptoms, my hep was discovered after I decided to go and give blood, up until then I was totally unaware I had the virus.

Thank you mrplod, I have amended the poll to reflect a total lack of symptoms!

Experienced liver sickness symptoms and signs for 11 yrs before diagnosis. due to being a low risk Dr's never even considered hep c. Fortunately I know a few nurses personally 1 told me to demand a hepatitis test.

Good luck with your group and research etc hope it helps to eradicate this virus & or help others 😍😍

I like to say I had my appointment with the liver doctor had another scan done she said my live was at beginning of Cirrhosis now it’s at stage 2 I am so happy 😀 the treatment is reversing my liver so I don’t need to come back anymore but now I have to have my bile duct blockage taken care of so that is the next step but they knew I had this issue since last November when I complained of pain between my rib cage.

I've got one for you,I was the first person in 22 years, according to my hep team,to present with chronic Porphyria,

Sat dormant and undetected until medical science did the same tests in low light/dark conditions.

Boom,up it came, I had my treatment slowed till they concluded,I'm in remission.

So I crack on with treatment, stopping when I have an attack of Porphyria

So,at 55 y.o. I have been tested and retested, what I thought was the hep turns out not to be,but the Porphyria making me sick with all listed known symptoms.

Just being able to separate the two has been like trying to grow fruit from my armpits.

Hope that's statisticaly interesting enough,xx
