FR Ablation tomorrow!

have my rf ablation booked for tomorrow morning to try to fix atrial flutter (AFL) after being on waiting list since December 2021. Apprehensive, to say the least, despite having watched numerous videos and researched thoroughly. Would appreciate hearing from anybody who has undergone this procedure for AFL or AF and how it went.

I had an ablation for AFlutter some 6 months ago. It was a walk in the park. The procedure is much simpler than Afib and mine took about 10 minutes. I had absolutely no pain or discomfort during the whole procedure.

I did feel them speeding my heart up and trying to induce AFlutter to see if the procedure was successful.

When I arrived home I had no indication that I had been for the ablation and just carried on as normal but wary of the hole in my groin. No pain or bruising in the groin. This may be due to less manipulation of the probes needed compared to the AFIB procedure.

Good luck but you'll probably not need luck at all. As I said, it'll be a walk in the park.

Good luck for tomorrow! I hope all goes well, have you had an opportunity to visit the AF Association webpage? afa.org.uk you will find a wealth of helpful information to help you prepare ahead of the procedure. You may wish to view some our health care professional videos? read some of our patient stories? may I also recommend downloading our 'Preparing for an Ablation' patient information sheet and 'Treatment Options for AF' from our Patient Resources.

Sending all the best !

Kind regards

Tracy

I had the op a few years ago. A lot of bruising on my thigh where the catheter was introduced but otherwise no problem. It took six months for my heart to go back to sinus rhythm but has been perfect since.

Hi

Good luck for tomorrow.

It does seem very daunting, but the technology and expertise are amazing in this field.

I had an ablation for VT, after 11 months I am now nearly off all my heart meds, and the cardiologist has just given me the heads up to start exercising again. Never thought that would ever happen.

Good luck for tomorrow.
