I had a phone call from my cardiologist four days after taking back my monitor. I wasn’t expecting to hear anything for a few months and even then I thought I’d just be told nothing had shown up and I’d be discharged. Results show that my heart pauses for 5.5 seconds and I was told if I was 65 I’d need a pacemaker, ( I’m 46). I’ll be seeing my cardiologist in 2/3 weeks to discuss the options. Has anyone else had any experience of anything similar to this?

My heart paused for 30 seconds but I was collapsing at the same time. I was 37 when I got my first pacemaker. I didn’t find out for 5 years as mine only happened every 6-9 months so it didn’t show up until I had an implantable reveal device. I’m glad it’s shown for you so quickly, Take care 😁
I saw the cardiologist today he’s decided I need a pacemaker fitted in the next few weeks. I was so shocked as I thought I’d just be put on medication and follow up appointments. I was told by many health professionals that all my symptoms were just anxiety and stress related, apparently my heart goes really fast then slows down then pauses. Very scary looking at the tracing. Still getting my head around needing a pack after being told I was too young. I’m meant to be starting a placement in a school for my teaching assistant course in 2 weeks. Not sure whether to mention it to them or wait until I have a date from the hospital.
It is a shock but it’s probably safer to have a pacemaker. My heart does very similar, it looked crazy on the tracing too lol I was told I was faking my collapses and when I ended up in hospital I was told to get out of bed as I was fitter than the nurses. My cardiologist told me there was nothing wrong with me, it was hard feeling so Ill and no one believing me, young fit people unfortunately have heart problems too but they try to blame it on everything else especially anxiety. I would probably tell the school especially if they are little children as you can’t lift your arm for a while after the op. Hope it all goes well for you 👍
I had a 7 day halter monitor back in February; I was told to press the button every time I felt symptoms. When I took it back with 8 pages of written recordings, the hospital said the monitor may not have enough memory for all of that!
I heard nothing after that, until I had a discussion last month with my GP about ongoing symptoms; he said the monitor recorded symptoms 87 times; but they have still done nothing about it!
