Hi, I have been on diltiazem (360mg per day)for a few months (I have tried other drugs but unfortunately they were not effective and caused problems). To a degree it is helping but does not take all away and have daily eposides. Up to press I have had 2 ablations both failed due to the problem being close if not on the AV node. Next step has not been taken lightly but I want my life back, next month I having a cyroablation to try to solve this but there is a possibility of damage to the node so pacemaker will be needed.

I was put on Diltiazem before my last ablation three years ago at 360mg and it kept my heart rate lower while waiting for the procedure. I gradually reduced the dose after that ablation and now have 60mg daily more for a comfort factor! My EP said to use my discretion if I need to up the dose should AF return. He also said its helpful for PVCs. I can go for weeks and not have a one, then I get them for a couple of weeks. Anxiety plays a big part. I also get very hard and quite painful thuds now and again which can stop me in my tracks. Sometimes after I have sat for a while and then get up and walk move around really quickly..he said this could be changes in blood pressure and suggested I try increasing the dose of Diltiazem..Ive yet to do!!!

I hope the cryroablation helps you and if a pacemaker is required, then your quality of life could be increased!!!

hello I have been on diltiazem slowrelease for 2 years. originally i wad on beta blockers after suffering from a few atrial fibrillation episodes. but add I carry an epipen I wad changed from beta blocker to channel blocker. I have found them to be excellent. they have slowed my heart and just about stopped my afib. next to no side effects. I am very happy with them.

best of luck
