Hi all,

I was wondering if there is anyone out there with these three things like me. I have been ill for a little over a year since my gallbladder was taken out. Just wondering if anyone else has IST, SVT and long QT? And how are you doing?. I was only diagnosed with these three on May and not suitable for ablation, told to lose weight and on IVABRIDINE, ATENOLOL, and magnesium. I also take vitamin d and pantoprazole for gastritis. Had a stress echo in August, normal. Have flecanide for flare ups and to fly. How do you go through life, I am 36 and still want kids.

I read your other post about having violent shakes as well... have you spoken to your doctor about this? I guess I have a few questions about your conditions. Is your Long QT inherited or was it caused by medication? I see you are on a medicine for heartburn which can exacerbate Long QT but then magnesium to try to balance that effect. Then ivabridine and a beta blocker. Was your blood pressure high too or just the heart rate? Those two are going to put a serious damper on your heart rate. How's it doing now or are you still having SVT/IST? I guess I was thinking you might be getting the shakes and pale because your blood pressure and/or heart rate is dropping too low at times with the medication. Long QT to my knowledge doesn't really cause symptoms, just fainting caused by arrhythmia.

I've had all of the above as well for 2 years now but my Long QT is not genetic (I never got tested but that's the assumption), it was just caused by magnesium deficiency that landed me in ER... and I take prilosec daily. I also have IST and SNRT, at least they think. I've taken all those similar things you list but not the beta blocker and ivabridine together as my heart can run low rates sometimes and not just high. Also, I have low BP sometimes.

Right now I'm managing very well on a super low dose of metaprolol. Shocking really since we tried that to start, but it made me feel terrible at a higher dose so we quite. A million other things tried and 2 years later, they wanted to talk ablation which for IST has terrible success rates. As a last ditch effort, I dug out my old metaprolol and split the pill in half and I've been much better for the past 3 months. And the Dr gave me the thumbs up to keep doing this as long as it works.

However, do not try anything without speaking to the Dr. I am no expert but have researched a lot since it plagued my so terribly. I really feel for you because the IST is the worst if you can't get that misery under control. Best of luck and keep us posted!
