Go to your gp and get them to refer you to a cardiologist .

See a doctor - cardiologist. Coming from a competitive runner who began having fainting episodes OUT OF THE BLUE. I now have an ICD and on beta blockers. Not to scare you but I had palpitations. Sucks, but you may be ok.

Also consider being referred to an electrophysiologist first. They will then refer you to a special cardiologist if necessary (there are many different cardiology specialisms - as I have found out!!!).

Don't panic about it, as a lot of people do get palpitations and they can mean nothing, just part of your heart's rhythm. But do definitely get it checked (perhaps keep a diary about when it is triggered, eg after eating, when standing up, when too warm, particular times of day etc. and how regularly they are or whether just a few minutes a week. They can do a 24 heart scan which usually picks up anything untoward.
