Hello I am new to this group. I wonder if anyone knows of any good specialists (or general advice / articles / forums) that my partner may be able to speak to about loss of hearing in one ear about 6 months ago (noise trauma, nerve / neurological?, docs don't think there is much he can do as no noise or signal to amplify?). Neither of us are very sure of the science or potential solutions (if any). We are based in Gloucestershire. Many thanks in advance x

i have almost total hearing loss in one ear and loss in the other. Following two years of trying to aid my ear with no success I have been prescribed cross aids where the aid for the non hearing ear transmits the sound to my hearing ear. This gives me all round sound again though I worry what will happen as the hearing in my better ear decreases.
Cross aids are a good option. I am waiting for the ENT consultation for a bone anchored hearing aid on my deaf ear. One ear is dead, the other is 100%. Also a lip reading group might be helpful as this also gives support and advice on living with and managing hearing loss.
The most important thing is staying active and social, even if tricky.
