Hi Carol. I'm in the process of finding out if I have BIA alcl, I had implants as part of reconstructive surgery in 1996 they were replaced in 2006. Last year I noticed lumps developing under my breasts and went for mammogram ultrasound, both of my implants were ruptured and leaking silicone, Feb 2020 I developed an abscess in my left breast and on consultation with the surgeon he said my implants had probably been ruptured since the day they were replaced. This Wednesday I'm off for an MRI as I'm in constant pain and my breasts have huge swellings in them, hopefully will have aspiration done and get CD30 tested for a diagnoses.

I'm gutted that I wasn't informed about the possible risks (they knew before my 2nd surgery about the link between implants and BIA ALCL) Yet they still used textured implants. I'm hoping that the consultant will do an enbloc explant although it doesn't look likely based on the degradation of the implants.
