I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism nearly two years ago and was referred to an endocrinologist. I was found to have critically low vitamin D which was treated over a period of 6 months. I do not require any specific medication except to ensure very healthy, balanced diet but that applies to many things. Fortunately healthy.

I would add it has nothing to do with the Thyroid gland although the name implies it does. We have two small glands either side of our throat and one or more can become adversely affected in various ways, infection etc.
