Is there any sort of medical research being done for Neurofibromatosis type 2?

It is a rare terminal genetic condition, [also known as von Recklinghausen's disease], whereby neurofibromas form under the skin all over the body, usually on the actual nerve. Which in turn can form other medical complications.Something like one in 35,000 have this condition, I suppose because it is so uncommon there will not be any research done for this condition?

Not necessarily. Many companies / governments donate to what are known as orphan condition funds which are funds put aside to research a rare condition. Often a breakthrough in a rare condition can lead to new treatments for more common ones.

Ran a quick search in Google Scholar for papers published since 2015 and there were quite a few - several 1,000 in fact

There is also the The Neuro Foundation's website (nfauk.org/)

And of course our own Choices content nhs.uk/Conditions/neurofibr...
