Calling All Readers!

This is our April 2021 Reading Rabbits Book Posting. You can post your comments and suggestions about any book/magazine/newspaper that does/doesn't have to do with any medical issues on this posting. You can mention about your favorite authors, as well. This posting will be pinned to the Pinned Posts for easier access.

This is the updated list of books that I will plan on reading. Some of them are from a trilogy/series. They are:

1. The Guest List -- Fern Michaels

2. The 6th Target -- James Patterson

3. The Apt Pupil -- Stephen King

4. Mr. Mercedes -- Stephen King

5. Finders Keepers -- Stephen King

6. End of Watch -- Stephen King

7. The Search -- Nora Roberts/JD Robb

8. Weekend Warriors –- Fern Michaels

9. Christmas Shopaholic –- Sophie Kinsella

10. Crazy House –- James Patterson

11. The Colorado Kid (Hard Case

Crimes) –- Stephen King

12. Firefly Lane β€” Kristin Hannah

13. Firestarter – Stephen King

14. True Colors – Kristin Hannah

15. I Heart New York – Lindsey Kelk

Last month, I had read β€œA Clean Kill”, by Leslie Glass. She writes the April Woo series. β€œA Clean Kill” is part of the April Woo series and it’s a really fast and interesting mystery with a romance twist at the same time. For anyone who enjoys reading mysteries and romance, I strongly recommend this book.

The story takes place in New York City and is based around two women who became best friends before having a Nutritionist/Trainer named Derek Meke help them with keeping fit and eating healthy. Their names were Maddy Wilson and Alison Perkins. Both of them had children and hired Nannies from the β€œAnderson Agency”; owned by Jo Ellen Anderson to live in their homes so the children could be taken care of and driven back and forth to Play School.

The Detectives who were put on the case were Mike Sanchez and April Woo-Sanchez. They both worked in different precincts, but ended up working together to work on the case.

Okay, now to you. What have you been reading lately or plan to read this month? The next book I plan to read starting today will be β€œThe Institute”, by Stephen King.

I don't understand what this is. I joined this to talk about food, not novels. Can we please keep this about food? πŸ™

We have a book posting that's done each month and it's for those who enjoy reading. :-)

I love reading. Maybe you could post cook books on here. Just out of curiosity is there a community related to loving books?

Activity2004Administrator in reply to

Thank you for asking about possible cook books. Do you have a particular Chef that you would like to suggest that has written a cook book? Would you also like to be part of our Reading Rabbits? We have a badge that's for the Reading Rabbits posting/members who love reading.

As for the possible group on HU, they don't have one for books, but there are other groups that do a book posting, as well ( I run/create the postings for them). :-)

Ok l like reading but haven't done much of it since my coma in 2018 because of having to relearn how to read and recognise letters/words, knew the alphabet still recognised the shape of the letters but they would leap out at me, jiggle and dance about, zoom in and out, turn upside down and back to front and all letters words trying to be read whilst doing that would also merge together. I'd get a few words in and get so muddled have to start at beginning again. Lost interest. It was the same with clocks. Still happens occasionally now and my focus isn't the same anymore, neither is my memory. Though last night when doing some sorting out l discovered a pile of books l haven't yet read and intend to give them a go if my attention doesn't wander. l have no problem with spelling and writing/typing. It comes from memory, but one on the page to read over is where the issues start. Letters and words especially start to merge and jiggle and look complete nonsense as if l've spelt everything wrong and in a gibberish language but a area of my brain spells out my words in my mind as l type/write them and l know they are correct, it's just another area of my brain related it must be to my eyes that tries turning everything on paper/screen into jibberish alien codswallop. So what and where is reading rabbits, how do l join and how do peple achieve a bage?

I can assign you a badge for the Reading Rabbits. I will also send you a link for the posting we do each month. I will post next month’s posting on the Pinned Posts section and send a group message for everyone to know that it’s up.

Where do l find pinned posts?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Mijmijkey74

Are you mostly using a phone or a computer/laptop? If you're on a phone, scroll down the page close to the bottom before you look at a posting. If you are on a laptop, go to the right hand side of the screen and click on Pinned Posts. Each month, the new posting will be on the top of the section. To help make it easier to find some of the postings, you can also click on See All next to Pinned Posts. :-)

I don't have a particular author or book type. Just picked up read back, read first page and that's book sold. My second home "not actual second home l'm not that rich lol" used to be our old library before they shut it down along with our local baths and made this horrible lifestyle centre containing both the above. And it lacking the proper old feeling that a library at least should have, the smell of old books. I don't read books about sport, food, wines, period dramas, theatre or film stars, or Sci-fi.

That's okay. You can always read what you enjoy and when you're ready to mention about the books you're reading/had read, please do. We'd be interested in hearing about them. :-)

Wow Activity2004 That's a great range of books you're planning to read. I must admit I've been stuck on the same book for AGES - I have been distracted by other things, but I was reading Charles Dicken's book 'The Old Curiosity Shop' - I started it at Christmas, and I'm only on page 143 - there are 554 pages, so I have a while to go yet! Maybe I'll finish it by next Christmas???

Zest :-)

Take your time, Zest . :-) I started my Stephen King book-- "The Institute" a few days ago and I'm now on 34 and almost done with the first part of the book. The book is 561 pages back to back not counting the blank pages after the About the Author.

Your book sounds very interesting. When I get done with my list of books I have posted, I will have to see if I have that one or if I can get it sent to me. :-)

I love reading and cannot sleep till I read a bit of my book. Think it relates back to my childhood as both parents always read to us when we were put to bed, and I carried on the tradition with my own children and now they do the same with theirs. It helps you to unwind (most of the time but do think it depends on what sort of book you read and as I like crime books as well, do sometimes find I can’t sleep for wondering who done it ). Nothing beats a paper book either, I did buy a kindle which is great for holidays but like turning those pages on an evening. Currently reading Into the water by Paula Hawkins, very intriguing. You will enjoy the 6th Target- James Patterson is an awesome writer. Good luck getting through all those books and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the reply. It's great to hear that you're able to pass down the love of reading to your children for them to do the same with their own children, too. It was the same with my mom. She would read stories all the time to my brother and I when we were very young. Now, we all do the reading to my brother's children, too. :-)

Would you like a Reading Rabbits badge? It's for those who enjoy reading. :-)

Yes, I can't wait to start some of the James Patterson books that I have on the list and also in general. He and Stephen King are two of my top favorite authors. :-)

We are going to have the May 2021 Reading Rabbits posting posted later today. :-)

Stephen King used to be my all time favourite novelist/author but besides having read Firestarter, the other book titles by him you mention l haven't heard of. Last book by him l read was Needful Things.
