Where are you on the Health Eating scale?

Hi everyone,

Here's link to the BBC's Healthy Eating scale so we compare ourselves to the average consumption of various foods based on the NHS Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet in 2018.

I like things like this as it's a bit of fun which might make us think about what we are really eating and It's really quick and easy. Because it's worrying that 60% of the UK population is over weight or obese

Thanks, that was interesting to fill out, and my results indicated that:

"Based on your answers, you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and a healthy amount of sugar. You also eat a healthy amount of saturated fat and plenty of oily fish plus you keep your red and processed meat consumption within safe limits."

I am pleased with that.

Thanks Zest I think that you've come out better than me as I don't eat fish or meat LOL my sugar consumption is way below average.

I think we know how well you eat and with 10K+ steps, good for you. 😊

Hi Hidden I'm a vegetarian so stopped eating fish, I do worry about the plastic in the ocean as that is affecting fish stock.

It's finding what suits us and my diet works for me. 😊

Everything was good except my saturated fats, which is butter and cheese added milk because there was no mention of cream.

This looks really interesting :) I think I'll be better to fill this in another day. I was away with work yesterday, and meals were all eaten out/on the go, and that limited us. Would like to know how healthy my "normal" diet is.

Well, that was fun.

My diet is LCHF, of course, so I eat a great deal of "unhealthy" things like Greek yogurt, red meat, sausages, bacon, and suchlike. My body hasn't caught up with the fact that these are poison, and perversely insists on remaining healthy and slim.

Anyway, the interesting thing is that my results came out with lots of tickmarks, with my veg and oily-fish bars way above the national average, my added-sugar at zero, and my "saturated fat" box only slightly above the "recommended" level. So, apparently, despite dire warnings from the experts that LCHF will kill me, it doesn't appear to be that bad when measured against the conventional yardstick.

Only my "red and processed meat" was off the scale. I don't care about this, since I'm aware that the WHO lied through their bureaucratic teeth about the research on those foods.

Earlier today I rewatched an old video by Mic the Vegan entitled "'My Oil: The Vegan Killer' Video Was Debunked?" This has a relevant graphic drive.google.com/open?id=1I... which tries to draw out the healthier vs the unhealthier options of a vegan lifestyle. My diet is generally in the bottom left corner, which I would argue is proven to be the healthiest diet on the planet given its credentials on beating chronic health across the board.

I finally took the fun test and came up with:

Hmm, I have to laugh at this as being a Vegan it's difficult to answer some question i.e. I don't eat oily fish but substitute with nuts/seeds etc and too much sugar, I have a teaspoon of coconut sugar in my herbal tea at night and a small bar of chocolate (I'm finishing up what I was bought for Christmas then I can go back to my favourite dark chocolate 70% cocoa solids and upwards).

Roll on finishing the chocolate lol.

Hi Alicia, this is funny and I had the same except I don't eat very much added sugar, I'm a vegetarian and mine said:

Hey I guess none is safe, it's very disconcerting that we have a prolific amount processed products and we're told to keep them within safe limits...

It's the added coconut sugar in my tea which, I have to say, is better than the white processed sugar, and also the chocolate I've been eating up, I had so much for Christmas lol.

I do drink mocha as well and I'm going to be changing the chocolate powder to cacao powder and use Stevia as of course cacao is very strong so needs some sweetness. Apart from that I do consider myself to be quite healthy, a little of what you fancy doesn't hurt. That's my moto anyway lol.
