Government panel rules saturated fat in butter, cheese and meat IS bad for you and should be limited but angry experts slam the 'outdated and incompetent' advice:

The question then is do you go with the well thought through totality of science or a few so called experts who rely on dairy industry funded studies to push their agenda?

It is well known that fear of saturated fat is based on DISTORTED data in 'Seven Countries Study' by Ancel Keys and not on science.

Margarine, vegetable oil, low fat dairy, and low fat version of other foods are definitely unhealthy choices.

That man Ancel Keys has been the cause of a lot of ill health.

I have put a very short video at the end on what he did.

Don't follow anything that PHE advise as they are motivated by profit. 17/23 of the "advisors" have vested interests. Have a look at this article and you'll what is the truth: healthscams.org.uk/the-trut... There is plenty of medical opinion condemning seed oils and a recent comment in the Lancet read as follows:

Re.SATURATED FATS

Interpretation

High carbohydrate intake was associated with higher risk of total mortality, whereas total fat and individual types of fat were related to lower total mortality. Total fat and types of fat were not associated with cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, or cardiovascular disease mortality, whereas saturated fat had an inverse association with stroke. Global dietary guidelines should be reconsidered in light of these findings.

Do you see it says saturated fat has an inverse effect on heart disease. I know whom I trust.

There is no doubt that Ancel Keys was a villain who set out to proved what he personally wanted to prove not the fact. I've seen a video posted here, was it yours?

yes.

Honestly Praveen I stopped listening to ‘experts’ a long time ago when I recognised there were so many about turns that in my mind they cast doubts on all dietary research.

You are right many of these dietary recommendations reflect commercial interests.

The government, mainstream media and these so called “experts” are backed by ton loads of money therefore I do not trust a word they say.

I have coconut oil everyday which is loaded with saturated fats and it’s done more good for me than bad.

And what’s this about unsaturated fat in nuts!?.... according to the packet of almonds I have, it contains a lot of saturated fat.

They tell you to eat margarine and vegetable oils instead which are very very bad for your health.

Matt2584 profile image

And this information is coming from a person who is not backed by a ton load of money and who has a lot more faith in natural foods/remedies.

Praveen55 profile image

In addition, coconut oil improves HDL cholesterol.

Oh dear Praveen55, don't lets go down the cholesterol road. See what a heart surgeon has to say about it: healthscams.org.uk/heart-su...

Doctors in the U.K. get paid for prescribing statins - cholesterol lowering drugs. Guess who provides the money? Cholesterol is a vital part of the body's function, don't interfere with it. Tibbs

I heard a rumour (I mean, it was from the mouth of someone who knows what they're talking about, but I've not read into it myself), that a study which tried to show that fat was bad for us, focused entirely on hydrogenated vegetable fats (like margarine), found that they were bad for us, and so said "all fats are bad for us", despite the study not having any natural fats in it at all.

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to Cooper27

Saying that all fats are bad and not even studying on all fats just shows how misinformed some people can be whether they know what there talking about or not.

There are so many videos with people in it who know what they’re talking about, “scientists/professionals/experts” that will normally always dish out a hint of misinformation and doing that can be dangerous.

I on the other hand am in no way ‘in the know’, i’m not well informed in certain areas and am quite a simple person.... in other words I am pretty much dumb haha.

No, that’s a bit harsh. I’m not dumb. I’m just really smart at being dumb :).

I prefer things to be simplistic and in the world we live in today, things aint simple... well I don’t think they can be anyway.

A doctor friend of ours had an answer for those who eat polyunsaturated fats and oils, "Go away and die".

Iv'e not heard that almonds contain a lot of saturated fat -it is mainly monounsaturated fatty acids .how much saturated fat does your packet say they contain ?I think it's rarely more than 1% normally

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to alchemilla12

Ah yes, your right.

It does contain saturated fat but about 4.4gs of it out of 56g in total fat.

As you said, the rest would most probably be mono unsaturated fat.

I should have looked at the packet again properly before making the comment.

I think that dietician got to me, the one I saw the other week who was dishing out some flawed information.

She was saying how nuts were full of fat.... which yes, she was right but she didn’t say what fat.

I think this can be a bit of an issue because if you look at the nutrition table, with most foods it will normally say,

“Fat

Of which are saturates”

The way it is worded can confuse the public.

If an item had 50gs of fat and 5gs of that was saturated fat, then what is the rest?... it doesn’t normally state that.

It makes me both angry and frustrated that "government experts" still feel justified in pushing this nonsense. If you make bread, potatoes and grains the basis of every meal, you end up with an obese, diabetic nation. And if you ditch healthy saturated fats like coconut oil and butter in favour of margarine and vegetable oil you get sick. I just don't understand why so called experts cling to these dangerous and misguided views.

Praveen55 profile image
Praveen55Star in reply to MTCee

I couldn't agree with you more!

Conspiracy theorists will tell you that these “government experts” are dishing out wrong info that leads to poor health in order to fulfil the depopulation agenda.

Other folk will most likely say the “experts” do this in order to make money?

Was this also the study where he visited one of the countries to observe their diet during Lent, when they were abstaining from meat and dairy?

Praveen55 profile image
Praveen55Star in reply to Cooper27

Perhaps not, but I am not sure. His main intention was to choose data from countries which fitted his lipid hypothesis.
