Hey! I'm interested in healthy lifestyle and I have a question, how many liters of water a day should I drink? I sometimes drink 4 liters. Is it normal?

Hi gosia280 ,

Have a read through the NHS Choices guidelines on water and drinks:

nhs.uk/livewell/goodfood/pa...

Hope that is helpful.

You should also maybe look into the quality of water that you take in. Check out whether you have fluoridated water for example (some good info here on fluoride: puriflowfilters.co.uk/Purif... )

Bottled water may be an improvement over standard tap water but is not necessarily so, with some being worse than tap water. Ideally fit a home water filter which would guarantee healthy water quality. Some are quite inexpensive and l've found that l naturally tend to drink more water since l got one.

A home filter is a much better idea for the environment than bottled water.

As a nation we are using and throwing away billions of single use plastic bottles. Please everyone don't buy them if you have any care for our polluted planet.

If you're constantly thirsty it's something to mention to your GP. It's a sign of both diabetes melitus, & diabetes insipidus which is linked to an issue with the hormone vasopressin.

ive taken this up with a number of doctors, proffers and even a health lecturer whos advice was to drink 4 liters of water in one day... others have said 2 liters of water in one day.

the turth is that we are of all different shapes and sizes so we dont need the the same amount... 2 or 3 or 4 liters of water in one day.

other advice i read is you must drink at least 4 glasses of water in one day. but dont say on the size of the glass.

theres a difference on how much water my body needs if i were living in a cold country or a hot country.

theres a difference on how much water your body needs if you have developed health issues that requier you drink more.

i am 80 killos and have a few health issues and i live in a very hot country ... and i am sure i dont drink more then a liter of water in a day.. but if you include tea, coffee, fruit and veg... and food in general then it must be about 2 liters of water/liquid in a day.

so 4 liters of water in one day... would not be normal for me 😊

if you are concerned about the amount of water your drinking...then its best you speak to a doctor about it.😊

4 litres seems a lot even if you're extremely active. Never really understood this recent thing where people are advised to carry a bottle of water around with them. Bizarre.

4 litres a day for an adult male, 3 for a female. I would say the 2 litre suggestion is a bare minimum.

I usually drink 3 to 4 liters of water a day.

Something I've found helpful is to look at your urine color. If it's clear or pale strsw color you're OK. If it's darker you're probably dehydrated.

If your pee is pale straw coloured you are hydrated. If it is a darker colour then have a drink simple.
