Hello! This would be my first post. My name is Mike. 6 months ago I had my prostate removed. I'm in Remission and plan on keeping it that way. I'm looking into herbs, exercising, and a healthy eating habit. Just looking for a place to start.

What exercises are you doing? How many days do you work out? Has your doctor suggested types of exercises?

I'm not exercising at this time. I also have other health issues that prevent me from exercising. I will be able to start in about a month. Not only that I'm having a hard time getting motivated to anything.

Thanks, giving up is not an option. I'm just tired. Flat out exhausted right now. But slowly on the mend.

Hi congratulations on the remission. Talking about this helps us men so thanks.

I did no exercises at all for most of my life.

Then I decided to change my life before the doctor told me to.

I started walking down the street when it was quiet I counted the lampposts and used them as a guide to see how far I was walking.kwalking for longer each time I did it. To my surprise after a while I got myself some trainers and walking from one lamppost to another then quickly to the next. That quick one soon became a jog.

You can do this it does not matter how long it takes you. I no longer go at quiet times and jogging is fun. I cannot believe it’s me sometimes .

Are you well enough to shop & cook for yourself now, or do you have help? Is it nutritional information you're after or healthy recipes?

It's important to try to improve your energy levels, so you are able to recover fully & avoid remission. Eating a healthy diet is really important for this, as is cutting out processed foods that are low in nutrients, or contain unhealthy ingredients that will have the wrong effect on your body. Try to avoid highly processed foods such as margarine & seed oils, & consider artificial sweeteners as toxic.

I eat a high fat low starch diet, with lots of nuts & seeds for protein & healthy fats, as well as fruit & vegetables. These things are easy to eat & high in vitamins & minerals. I also eat a lot of kefir for gut probiotics. This is a fermented dairy drink, which I have morning & evening. chriskresser.com/kefir-the-... Now the weather's too cold for salads, I like to eat soups & stews that are filling & nutritious as well as easy t make.

Thanks for the great advice. I am able to cook. I receive Hello Fresh for now. I get 3 meals per week and I have my wife, daughter and myself to feed. For now it's very convenient. I'm having a lot of problems with my energy level and my energy level is very low.

I've seen that company advertised, but never tried it. Are the meals good value? I get a supermarket delivery every few weeks as I don't drive, then just shop for light fresh food. Better for my joints!

Have you had your hormone & nutrient levels checked following chemotherapy or radiation? I'm wondering if it may have had an effect on your thyroid, these treatments will definitely have played havoc with your digestion & the ability to absorb nutrients. Ask your GP if he'll test your free T3 & T4 levels to check your hormone function. Also your vitamin D, B12 & folate, iron & ferritin. I'd suggest taking some good suplements for these, but best to have baseline levels tested first.

Perhaps try eating more fruit ~ especially berries if you can

afford them, & less starchy food. The latter makes me lethargic. Taking a spoon of apple cider vinegar in water, especially the type that contains a probiotic culture, before meals may help your digestion & nutrient absorption. A pinch of ascorbic acid in water, which is synthetic vitamin C will also increase your stomach acid, too. Avoid the fizzy vitamin C drinks as these contains artificial sweeteners.

If you're able to make a pot of tea or coffee every day, think about whether making kefir is do-able for you. It takes a while to work & the difference to become noticeable, but worth the wait for the health benefits.
