Trying to save money at the beach!

So this year I have decided to prep my meals for my beach trip. I made 11 pounds of chicken, 7 cups of rice(cooked), 2 pounds of potatoes, 9 cups of broccoli, 7 cups of blueberries and 6 whole red peppers. I usually eat about 4 big meals a day plus 2 snack meals. This all cost less than $60 and made 20 meals of my big meals, and my snacks usually consist of a protein shake and fruit or chicken and fruit. Eating healthy and eating foods that fit your specific diet needs doesn't have to cost you a ton of money. Just a helpful hint to help keep on track.

This sounds like a great idea for any vacation that's coming up. I will have to remember to pack the fruit for the car when the time comes!

Nice ingredients, especially if the rice is wholegrain - but I'd find it too limited personally in variety for optimal health and interest (and the blueberries would be expensive in the UK). I often think this about the trendy 'meal prep' videos on YouTube - seriously, someone is going to eat that all week? Three days in a row is my limit.

Be very sure your rice has been cooled quickly and then kept effectively refrigerated as Bacillus cereus is a particularly nasty food poisoning (people usually remember the dangers with meat but not so commonly with rice)

You can make what ever you want for meal preps, this has work for me personally and I don't look at food as what does this taste like, I look at it now as fuel for my body. We get our wants and needs mixed up sometimes and this is what leads many to poor food choices, this is a method that has helped me lose weight and main my current weight. The point is make nutrient dense foods that are low in calories and don't cost too much

My mother asked a good question about my father's fitness obsession. "Fit for what?"

Good point about wants and needs but there comes a point when we need to recognise that we are living beings, animals, humans and not machines. Especially if we want to be socially and psychologically fit - arguably that's the ill health epidemic.

Some of us of course need predictability and control where we can get it in order to cope with other areas of life whilst we can't, or at least feel we can't... eating disorders, or people like my son for example.

Good points! But I feel it's up to the individual to decide what's best for their needs. We are animals, and we should not be eating processed foods, the foods I make for my individual needs are for my health goals, and for the most part are fresh. I use to be 360 pounds, smoked, drank tons of alcohol, and was extremely depressed. Through diet and exercise I have become much healthier physically and emotionally.

The purpose of the post was to help people save some money and try and eat more natural foods during a time when people throw their diets to the wind and spend an unnecessarily amount of money. You can make whatever food you would like for a prep this is just what I did.
