Is Coconut oil healthy?

Hi everyone, I am new here and I wanted to ask if Coconut oil is considered as healthy oil? I have read it in a book just now (amazon.com/dp/B06Y1C4XXZ -- it's free so I grab it). It has good points but any suggestions?

Oh, I mean the "cooking" version of coconut oil. I know that VCO (Virgin coconut oil oil) is really good, but I am supposing the cooking oil version of it is different.

oh right i see. One of the best cold pressed coconut oils on the market is Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It is not only cold pressed to retain its natural healthy benefits, but it is also 100% USDA certified organic, GMO free and virgin. Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is excellent for cooking and baking, has a light coconut flavor and scent, and makes a superb daily health supplement. It is available in some grocery stores and health food shops

Yes it's good for you, i use it everyday and i see improvements in my health, especially my skin and hair. But it also has other benefits.

Yes it's O.K. provided that you don't heat it to use for frying as it changes the structure. It's great for skin treatment and in its natural state on salads etc. The only fats for high temperature cooking are animal fats. Tibbly

yes it is supposed to be very good for you. there was a lot of talk about it on another site. i use it in drinks that we make for the children and that was ok. tryed it in some cooking and didnt like coconut tasting fryed eggs or anything else cooked with it.

give me oilive oil any day of the week.

Expeller Pressed Vs. Cold Pressed Coconut Oil

The biggest difference between expeller pressed coconut oil and cold pressed coconut oil is that expeller pressed coconut oil is processed at higher temperatures. Cold pressed coconut oil is processed at temperatures that never exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit, while expeller pressed coconut oil is processed at temperatures that never exceeds 210 degrees Fahrenheit. As expeller pressed coconut oil is processed at higher temperatures, it has less nutritional value. Between the two, cold pressed coconut oil is healthier than expeller pressed coconut oil is; however, expeller pressed coconut oil still retains more beneficial properties than refined coconut oil does and is a healthier choice. Like cold pressed coconut oil, expeller pressing is most often done with virgin and/or organic coconut oil and is considered to be a high quality coconut oil. Expeller pressed coconut oils tend to be around the same price or slightly cheaper than cold pressed coconut oils.

thank you grace 111 for explaining the difference in the oils...i did read up on it about 2 years ago, i shouldn't of just bypassed the difference..diddnt think anyone would pick me up on it 🤔.

i planted about 50 trees so far but it will be 5 more years before they start producing. am hoping to add a further 100..

oh thats a lovely name for your oil. and also hopefully god will shine his grace on your trees and make them grow into beautiful trees. maybe you forgot the slight difference in coconut oil its a lot to remeber, for all the difference. i have to read up on things and re check as i forget a lot of things, infact if i dont watch the television for a while i forget how to use the handset. yes we need more trees as the countryside is slowly becoming into the city more and more. love and hugs. grace xoxoxo

I use it for stir frying, also rice bran oil. Both are good for hot temperatures. I've recently read it's not the miracle health food it's been touted to be, but I like the taste, & don't feel I need to add anything else for flavouring but tamari.

Hi there! I use coconut oil for cooking the last two years and I find it light and tasty 😋

I've got a booklet by Darrin Wiggins called Coconut Oil & Apple Cider Vingear which lists the numerous health benefits of using coconut oil. Well worth a read! I've used it for years. Just bought 50 quids worth of it on special offer so won't run out in the near future.. You can use the unrefined, virgin oil for everything but if you want to save money you can also buy the cheaper refined oil for cosmetic use.
