I love all sugar delights, but trying to loose weight I know it's the sugar that piles on the lbs.

Already am as sugar free as possible. No added sugar products bought as much as we can.

I'm the same as you. I don't need a date as I have been already doing it for a long time. I go sugar free with a lot of items.

I've been sugar free for six years

I'm looking forward to this. It won't be easy but I'll give it a go ......

I am almost there, but still like the odd toffee and piece of homemade cake!

Great response so far :)

Although I'm not sure how to discount those who've votes despite already being sugar free

🤔 I didn't think they'd vote.

I'll wait for the poll to have been up 24 hours and take the date then :)

Is this approved by dieticians?

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply to Onegramatatime

It's simply going to be removing sugar from the diet, there isn't going to be a plan as such, so there's no dietician input.

I eat a diet similar to traditional Mediterranean. It is low in added sugar and high in fibre. My BMI is under 22. To go zero sugar I would have to cut out most vegetables and fruit and all carbohydrates that I eat.

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply to Onegramatatime

We're not talking about removing carbohydrates/whole foods, we're talking about removing refined white sugar, and refined white sugar substitutes (e.g. fructose syrup, sweeteners, maple syrup).

There is no obligation to participate, so if you felt that removing sugar would be damaging to your health, or that you'd have nothing to gain from the challenge, you can continue with your diet as it is.

Sorry, I misunderstood the challenge. As redefined, I have been doing that for the last two years. It was very tough, but it was worth it to be off the medications.

Hey this is a great idea so I’m in Cooper27 😊

I don't need a date as I have been already doing it for a long time.

I go sugar free with a lot of items and I try to encourage my parents to do the same as me for all of our health as we live together. I follow the no more than 30 grams of added sugar rule by the n.h.s website. Which I find really easy as I am really under it. I have been doing this for a long time now and I noticed that I don't have many migraines now as they have been greatly reduced plus I don't have many soreheads anymore, I don't miss them.

Fantastic Survey to encourage people to reduce there sugar intake for there health especially for this day and age. Also great way to get people talking about there health communication is the key so we can support each other and not judge.

I already avoid sugar as much as possible although I take a teaspoonful of honey in tea or coffee. I also bake banana bread and coconut cake using honey rather than sugar. Refined sugar I avoid completely.

With how close the 17th and 24th are, I might run two challenges. If people benefit from the first week, they can join us for the second too :)

I'm in, and welcome the challenge/support! Probably best for me to start asap before the enthusiasm goes!🙂

Before I vote, can you clarify what you mean re sugar free, I.e does it mean no fruit?

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply to Paulssis

I think this would be up to the individual. I would probably suggest you limit fruit to one or two portions a day though, and probably avoid dried fruit altogether :)

I’m planning to practice this week and hopefully start next week
