Always decaffeinated tea and coffee. Skimmed milk. Tonic water and diet cola

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to kitchengardener2

That's good to hear. Do you drink these at meals only or throughout the day? :-)

kitchengardener2 profile image
kitchengardener2 in reply to kitchengardener2

Cup of tea, when I get up sometimes coffee mid morning. Water or tonic with meals. Sometimes have light ovaltine before bed. Trying to drink more water to improve kidney function.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to kitchengardener2

Yes, more water is always good for kidney functions and also keeping the blood flow easier. I always drink a lot of water anytime I have to do a blood drawing so it can be done the first time when I'm at the lab. I have issues when the veins are hard to find with not enough water during the day. :-)

Cocoa with soy milk too.

Which flavor of soy milk? Each type/flavor has different amounts of carbs.. πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ₯›

By keeping a food diary I know how many coffees and teas I drink. I always keep a bottle of cold water with me and try to drink water the most.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Moreorless

Is the water bottled or is it filtered and put in a water bottle?πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ₯›

Moreorless profile image
Moreorless in reply to Activity2004

Tap water, I used to buy a lot of bottled water but now use my money more wisely.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Moreorless

We have a filter for the kitchen sink and fill water bottles for on the go.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

Moreorless profile image
Moreorless in reply to Activity2004

What sort of filter?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Moreorless

Water filter so it doesn’t taste bad/stale.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

Moreorless profile image
Moreorless in reply to Moreorless

I also make a homemade ginger, lemon and honey tea sometimes which I recommend. I peel and freeze the ginger and then when I want a cup, grate some ginger into a cup. Poor boiled water over it and add lemon and honey to taste.

Thank you! This sounds really good and delicious!πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆβ˜•οΈ

Hi Leah

Very good poll. I chose water, coffee, tea (Three Ginger Tea), club/diet soda (that's a very occasional treat).

Thank you for saying that about the poll! I appreciate it very much!πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

I drink tea a few times a day. I have diet soda sometimes with lunch depending on the day. I drink water multiple times a day with meals and my medication.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ₯›

in reply to Activity2004

You're welcome Leah.

I drink a fair amount of water, that's what I'm drinking now. Diet soda is definitely a treat for me.

How many times a day do you have rice milk?πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ₯›

Mazxstitch profile image
Mazxstitch in reply to Activity2004

Just once at breakfast.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Mazxstitch

That's good! Do you have it on cereal or on the side? :-)

Mazxstitch profile image
Mazxstitch in reply to Activity2004

Breakfast is porridge or oatibix with rice milk. I am gluten and lactose free.

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply to Mazxstitch

Do you get on OK with Oatibix if you are following a gluten free diet? They are made with regular oats (high chance of gluten cross-contamination) and barley malt extract, and we were warned to avoid them.

Mazxstitch profile image
Mazxstitch in reply to Cooper27

Never had any problems with Oatibix. I was advised to go gluten and lactose free December 2019 to reduce PMR inflammation and it made a big difference. I occasionally have something containing gluten with no adverse reaction.

Marianne0915 profile image
Marianne0915 in reply to Activity2004

Not decaf coffee, teas are green, fruit, herbal.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Marianne0915

I like green( along with other) tea. It helps before going to bed each night.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ₯›

Decaff tea ,once a day proper coffee if I want another one - decaff. Sugar free and cafeen free pepsi , skimmed milk or fat free and sugar free almond milk. At least 2L of water every day - bottled or tap . I like pineapple and coconut juice a glass πŸ˜‹.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Bakery40

I usually only have cranberry or pineapple juice when the blood sugars are dropping/under 100 mg/dl since I drop too fast. I drink decaf. teas during lunch and dinner. :-)

Tis a good poll, my favourite is green or black tea, diluted grapefruit juice first thing in morning, juiced celery, ginger, apple later. I rarely drink with meals. Water, my family trundle into nearby woodland for fresh spring water, I boil it.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to zube-UK

Thank you for saying that about the poll. I appreciate that very much. I was thinking of doing another poll related to different cheeses and one on different teas. :-)

How far is the woodlands to get the spring water? :-)

zube-UK profile image
zube-UK in reply to Activity2004

Oow cheeses and teas would be good polls. One spring water source is just 200 meters away, the other is 2miles through narrow lanes, both have watercress growing nearby which we pick for soups and salads, got to wash it a lot though.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to zube-UK

Thank you for the great information! How long do you have to wash everything?

Yes, the cheese poll will be done in a few days.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

zube-UK profile image
zube-UK in reply to Activity2004

Ah good, will look forward to your cheese poll, they all give such interesting and different answers, it’s fun, thank you.

Rinse the watercress for a few minutes in fresh water, soak half hour in salt water, then another quick rinse, it’s worth it! Any sprigs with roots I plant in my garden but it’s slow without running water and tastes too peppery strong.

You must also make sure you are eating watercress, not β€˜fools watercress’ which looks very similar, that tastes of carrots and is slightly poisonous ⚠️

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to zube-UK

Great advice! Thank you for letting me know that about the fools watercress. Never knew that information.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ˜€

I found a lovely drink that tastes a bit like Campari 🍷. Aecorn dry aperitif. I mix it with sparkling water and it’s wonderful 😊

We've given up caffeine in our house as my OH had really high blood pressure and was struggling to sleep. So my coffee is now decaffeinated and my diet coke is caffeine free.

I only have 1 or 2 coffees when I first get up and maybe with breakfast, the occasional diet coke with lunch but I drink glasses of tap water all day. I always have a glass next to me and top up when empty so probably drink around 8-10 glasses per day.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to jd65

That's great to hear about the 8-10 glasses of water. I aim to try and drink that much each day. Sometimes, it may be more since I have to have a snack now and then depending on the blood sugars and I have to take medication before eating anything that isn't juice/fruit. :-)

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator

I've selected water and club/diet soda. I think club soda is sparkling water?

I mostly drink water and sparkling water, with the occasional diet coke (mostly as a mixer for rum).

Sometimes I have herbal tea too.

Activity2004Administrator in reply to Cooper27

What flavor of herbal teas do you like? Are they decaf./caffeine? :-)

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply to Activity2004

I like peppermint or lemon and ginger :) I wish I liked some caffeinated ones though, sometimes you need a kick, I've just never liked the bitter taste.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Cooper27

It’s okay to like decaf..πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ I drink decaf. before bedtime.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆβ˜•οΈ

I drink de caff tea and coffee because otherwise I get heart palpitations and insomnia....thank you menopause 🀨. I don’t drink milk but I use in it my tea and coffee. My cold drink of choice is filtered water.

It's good to hear that you put milk in your coffee and tea. What flavor of tea do you use with the milk? :-)

MTCee profile image
MTCee in reply to Activity2004

The best decaf tea I can find is good old Yorkshire tea. As for the best decaf coffee, I find that Percol’s decaf instant suits me. I use full cream milk because it’s lower carb than semi.

Food4Fuel profile image

I drink Decaff too - PG tips are my current favourite but I will have to give the Yorkshire ones a try. Decaff Kenko is nice aswell 😊

The only way I drink water is when it is boiled and and married to a teabag or some coffee. I don't really 'drink' milk, only add it to my tea and coffee. And coffee must have full fat dairy milk, and tea, semi-skimmed. πŸ‘
