I've ticked nearly all :)

We'll be having roast of some sort (not turkey, I can't cook it well enough) with roast potatoes, roast veg, sprouts, GF stuffing and some pigs in blankets.

in reply to Cooper27

And why not! so you enjoy it. πŸŽ„πŸ˜Š

An excellent poll Jerry, I've chosen nut roast and roasted parsnips/veg, can't think of anything better.πŸ˜‹

O yum - Christmas dinner! Homemade cranberry sauce is a very different experience to a jar of bright red sticky sweetness! Definitely chesnuts with the brussels too.

I’ll be on my own ( with my dog) so I’ll probably have a trout or hot smoked salmon fillet that will be a treat with roasted veg.

sunny369 profile image
sunny369 in reply to Elizahanna

will the dogs be getting an extra Christmas dinner treat?

Elizahanna profile image
Elizahanna in reply to sunny369

Of course! Something home cooked.

sunny369 profile image
sunny369 in reply to Elizahanna

oh nice, yum! :) My Kiki will be having a special bone, she only gets one at Christmas because her dad is a vegetarian and can't really cope with finding a bone on his sofa :) But she gets one as a Christmas treat :)

I’m spending Christmas Day alone so am unsure what I’ll eat as I’m very keen on Christmas pud so may have a light meal and then an individual Chrissy pud with lashings of custard and there won’t be any arguments on what to watch on tv...I’ve 3 individual GF puds and 3 GF Christmas cakes so I’m all stocked up...πŸŽ„

Good poll will be interesting to read what people have.

My eldest son usually cooks Christmas dinner, and he does a great job, catering for meat eaters and vegetarians, sprout lovers/haters, parsnip lovers/haters!

I can’t eat large meals but don’t want to miss out so I have really tiny portions of everything, tiny slice of Nut roast, probably 1 roast potato, roast carrots, peas, broccoli, apple and herb stuffing ball, homemade onion and tomato gravy.

On Boxing Day there’s always plenty of nut roast left over and I can have a bigger portion with my salad!

in reply to Fran182716

Thank you Fran and I love reading the replies too. Your Christmas dinner sounds perfect with your son cooking it so you enjoy it. 😊

Great post Jerry, Ive ticked roast parsnips/Veg and hopefully some onion free stuffing. Thats as far as I've got, haven't even decided on dessert πŸ˜‹

Thanks Debs, that sounds lovely I'm on my own and having a light lunch with an individual Chrissy pud with lashings of custard...😁

My family are not visiting because we are in tier 3, and we all think it’s too risky as we are OAP’s. We are having a simple roast (no turkey) lots of veg and then Christmas pud with custard AND cream, Yum, only because it’s Christmas.

in reply to Htims46

Christmas pud with custard and cream how good is that...😁

Salmon, done by my other half, using a Robert Carrier recipe. Divine!

Great idea for a pre-Christmas poll. Thanks Jerry.

We shall have all the traditional items plus cabbage. I’ve recently discovered white cabbage sliced thinly and fried gently with butter and a smidge of olive oil. Absolutely delicious and quite versatile.

When I first read about it on the HU site I didn’t like the sound of it but it’s truly yummy and fits in well with LCHF.

If you haven’t tried it I seriously recommend it.

Happy Christmas everyone.

in reply to Sewneat

Thank you Sewneat I love the sound of your fried white cabbage and if an LCHF diet works for you thats great.Happy Christmas to you. πŸŽ„πŸ€Ά

Our plan is roast pork with crackling loads of vegetables I’m going to have one small roast potato it will be the first since early May. On the pudding side since taking sweeteners out my diet I no longer crave sweet things and hubby don’t do pudding anyway.xx

Full house breakfast .. and snacks over rest of day.

As there will only be four of us a big chicken seemed a better idea than a turkey. Several of my neighbours will be eating my beef. Tradition has been tamed by pragmatism this year.

Believe it or not, we are having a chinese feast! Because we can't see family there will only be 3 of us; our son (aged 20) said it would be great to do something different. So, we have bought in the starters, the duck recipe has been agreed (I'm cooking) and one thing we have decided is that each of us is cooking a main that will be secret until the day to have with noodles & rice. Hopefully, I won't guess the men's dishes as I have to do the shopping :) Should be a great way for us to have a laugh on Christmas Day.

I'll be on my own so that means the bits of a traditional dinner that I really like. So pigs in blankets, roast potato and parsnip, stuffing, red cabbage and particularly bread sauce. Note the complete absence of sprouts! Then much later in the day an individual Christmas pud with custard (it must be custard, anything else is simply wrong!)

We will be having a 3 lb Guinea fowl. With roast potatoes , parsnips, sprouts, smoked bacon rolls, gravy and I think GF stuffing. Followed later with a yet to make homemade 11 hours of steaming Christmas pudding without added sugar, which is handy to give individual portions to my 2 diabetic friends. I found over the 40 years of making it, I could use less sugar and for the last 15 years, no added sugar at all.

Other is none of the above. After years of trying to produce the perfect Christmas dinner when no one really liked turkey, sprouts etc, I realised that as long as we were all around the table enjoying a special meal together we should just have our favourite food, and canvassed opinion on what that should be. So that's what we have - whatever people want, fortunately we mostly agree on one particular main, but I'm quite prepared to make other things as well to make it a special occasion where everyone is happy.

Interesting poll Jerry.

We'll be having a frozen turkey breast this year. It will be the first time we didn't get a full fresh turkey. The reason being that with Covid - we don't have any of the family calling over this year.

It's very sad, but that's just the it has to be.

And this is a very good question: D

Traditional Christmas Eve dishes already bore me a bit and I have this approach to tradition: D

As this is my first Christmas Eve, which is organizing, I thought to go a little modern side and make a vege dinner, but I have some concerns about how the rest of the family will react to it. How do you think - to risk? When its better to buy isk - ISK Eve Online are important for everyone who wants to be a part of the EVE Online unierse.

Traditional CHistmas in Eve are great, cause community is awesome. You should try.

First, buy some isk and get some help

My advice: odealo.com/games/eve-online...

BUY ISK

I'm late checking my emails...lol Ok we had Turkey Crown and Quorn roast for my daughter , Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, sliced carrots and potatoes. My daughter made a cheesecake flavoured with some baileys. and we tried some hot mulled wine In the evening for the first time. Did anyone try something different like that over Christmas? Hope you all had a nice Christmas.
