I would always choose fish as really love it.
Hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Valentines Day but please, give a thought for those without partners or those with unsentimental partners or all those who can't enjoy the day for whatever reason. xx
Well said Flossie, we should always think of those who are not as fortunate as us and you're right it must be painful for some because of their circumstances. π
Many thanks Jerry... this is my second year as a widow and its so hard not getting lovely cards and flowers....xxxx
Hey Flossie Iβm ever so sorry it must be hard and I feel for you. π
Cheers Jerry - Hope you have a good one anyway no matter with whom or what you do. xx
Unfortunately I would probably want wine too π€·π½ββοΈ
Hey no one's advocating a dry Valentines day so enjoy...π· π π·
I'll take sparkling cider with my dinner for Valentine's Day if it's possible. Depending on what happens, I might be going out with my Nephew and Niece and my parents. The kid's parents might be on a date that night.
Enjoy your evening Leah, I think that itβs great that youβre looking after your neice and nephew for their mum and dad. So good for you. π
First Valentineβs Day on my own, but probably speak to my husband some time during the day. But will still enjoy a good naughty dessert. X
I'm happily divorced and will spend the day on my own too and I love a decadent dessert regardless...π
Minced steak bolognese with penne pasta and grated cheese followed by Tirimisu.
Whatever I happen to feel like eating at the time. I'm not into lovey, dovey, romantic valentines dinners and never have been. To me what happens on a day to day basis is more important than some overblown gesture just because the calender says so.
Iβve never had any sort of meal to celebrate St Valentines. Itβs not an important thing to me, I have been married for over 38 years, and been with my husband for 40 years, so we must be getting the important things right!
Good for you Clare. π
My parents will have been together/married for 39 years.
Thatβs really good Leah 39 years is going some. So good for them π
Hi Jerry
Myself and my hubby have never been in to Valentine's Day as we both feel it's just commercialisation and it's not just Valentine's Day as we both agree that Mothers and Fathers Days are both commercialised. Basically we both agree that you think of each other and those around you all year round.
We both love to go out for a meal as a treat and it doesn't matter what time of year.
Be kind to each other and those around you all the time.
Hi Alicia an excellent sentiment and I applaud that.
I'm on my own and in a new home so don't know anyone around here yet but never miss an opportunity for a decadent dessert.
Maybe the best things in life really are the ones that are free...π
Thank you Jerry.
A new home is so exciting and something I really want to do but hubby needs some convincing at the moment. A dessert is a wonderful thing, I'm a shocker for the raw fruit bars I make - yummyπ
Oh yes, there's alot free in life to enjoyπ
Hi Alicia, moving home has been a dream for me and my trouble was finding what I wanted and I was very happy in my old home so can understand your hubby's reluctance...
We have so many things in our lives that become like anchors that give us comfort and stability but they can also hold us back and that's half the battle realising we can let go and start again...
I wish you well with your desire to move. π
I'm so glad it all worked out for you Jerry. I've been thinking today shall we just improve what we have but then I question myself and think yes, I still want to move.
I think this'll be a long process but we will get there I'm sure.
I don't have one because nobody loves me (:-<
Aw I donβt believe that...π
Neither do I.I am just a humble man. With much to be humble about.
Hey I'm modest and I've a lot to be modest about...π
You are also a great communicator, a natural leader and comforter to those in need. At least from over here anyway. keep shinin' dude
Thank you Greyone π thats very kind of you. We are what we are and the secret is to accept ourselves in my opinion.
You can see the best in others which's great and you want to see the best in yourself as you're obviously a kind caring and sensitive person. Which's A-OK in my world...
As Hidden said, it's hard to believe nobody loves you, Greyone . You're a nice person. Right now, I'm not dating anyone, but guess what?? I have really wonderful friends who are guys and we talk almost every few days. It makes me happy.
Ok so maybe I was being far too hard on myself. But as a single guy passing his mid 50's, I do not like the commercial side of Vals day. I think it is wonderful to have time for this in the year when people can authentically express this sentiment and I like to hear about people doing this.
My dad's idea was to nip out for a box of chocs on a Sunday morning and hand them over in the newsagent's paper bag. Now i come to tell you all this story I find it rather sweet and loving in their own way. Even after one of their arguments, mum used to say "He's not such a bad thing".
Sometime after Mum died we heard a story from one of our relatives that Mums Dad was ill and she decided to give up work to nurse him till he died. Dad said he would wait for her, he did and they got married on Mum's Birthday. So that one day has a special significance for me. Not doubt after telling this story it will evoke even more for me next year.
My Dive into Vals day will be limited to listening to Steve Wright on Sunday.
I was seeing a counsellor at one point (driven to it by my incredibly problematic marriage ) he advised me to look in the mirror every morning, smile and say to myself 'I love you'
I think it is better than some of the other things like "you are great" or "you are such a nice person" because it that is what we have to do love ourselves. I often wonder if I disliked myself for being 3 stone overweight and not able to tuck my t-shirt in my jeans in a tidy way.
Now, I can. I've got rid of all my old xxxl t-shirts and although I don't say "I love you" in the mirror, I do smile and appreciate myself.
Maybe this year i will add vals day as another day to celebrate my parents because what could be more enduring than family love. Thx sunny369.
I've said other, because we don't normally do Valentine's Day! I normally go to the gym on Thursdays, and then I think our plans are to eat leftovers, but we might have Salmon instead now, to make it a bit more special than leftovers!
Our daughter bought us tickets to see Jersey Boys for Christmas and we're going to see them on Thursday. I've got to go for blood tests in the morning but we will have a late lunch/early dinner in Manchester before the show. We don't normally bother about Valentine's day ( we've been married for 33 years)
Enjoy your night out Grandma Dylan as thats a lovely present. π
