I eat stew since it's very warm and you can add different types of leftovers into it.

Fantastic poll, Hidden ! :-) What's your favorite food for the Winter?

in reply to Activity2004

Thank you Leah, I really like stew but my favourite has to be a roast as I love roasted veggies and the smell from the oven while everything cooks merrily away is lovely but it was close. 😊

That sounds really great and I love veggies, too. I would love to add some broccoli in with my stew, but I'd have to find the right ones in a few weeks. Some places I go don't have nice looking broccoli! :-(

I used to love cottage pie, but I don’t eat potatoes now and it wouldn’t be the same with anything else.

I have seen a recipe using cauliflower mash (I think you blend the cauliflower after cooking it) - it could be worth a try?

Roast chicken and roast vegetables with steamed cabbage with a knob of butter added to the cabbage when cooked.

My favourite healthy winter warmer is my late dad’s recipe homemade thick pea soup, very popular in Holland. Made with green or yellow split peas, leeks, celeriac, a small potato and a few vegetable stock cubes. No need to soak the peas, cook for around three hours until the peas are completely soft and the soup has thickened. No need to blend unless you prefer it completely smooth. For non-vegetarians add slices of smoked sausage or slow cooked pork cut into small pieces. This can be cooked in the soup for extra flavour. I made some today and have a photo but don’t know how to add it.

Your soup sounds wonderful, to post a photo click on write to make a new post, you have the post title then write the post, there are 2 boxes for one for a Topic section and one to add photo click add photo this will take you too files click photo’s and then select the photo you want and just click the photo/select and that’s the one published.

It is easy so I hope this helps as I’d love to see your pea soup. 😊

Hi Jerry, I tried to post my photo the way you described but I didn’t get the options you mentioned. Maybe because I’m on my iPad? Anyway, thanks for your help 😊

in reply to Freesia3

Hi there, its easy with an iPad:

Click write in blue box, then below post description section are 2 small boxes a camera logo with add photo click this and you should have the option to access your photo library and then just click the image you want to download.

I'd have an experiment because if you have your photos stored on your iPad you should be able to access them. It takes a little while to get used to how it all works but you can do it and if I can help I will.

Jerry 😊

Thank you! I tried to attach a photo to my reply, which didn’t work. It seems I can only attach one if I start a new post. So there’s no point doing one of my soup unless I want to explain it again somewhere else?

in reply to Freesia3

That’s right only photo’s can be posted on a new post,

Now we love photo’s of food on here so I think there’s lots of point if you don’t mind and just cut and paste the method from your above reply.

We have a Topic section: Healthy soups so your photo and recipe would be most welcome, it’s up to you. 😊

Proper Indian Curry is good at any time of the year but it must be made about 24 hours before serving to give the spices time to tenderise the meat. We are having Jalfrezie on Thursday with a friend who is coming to share it with us. Can't wait - yum.

In wintertime we eat at least one day in the week different typs of cabbage (Savoy cabbagge, curly kale, red cabbage or Brussels sprouts). Besides potatoes, we like to eat the Savoy cab. with pasta - pasta mixed with the cooked leafs. This mixture of pasta we do also with Swiss chard.

I wish I'd put bubble and squeak now...😀
