I eat more than 7 portions a day, but today, I made panettone and shop bought frozen sausage rolls! Oh Lordy!! I did go on a ten mile bike ride though!!

I eat lots of fruit and veg but I am overweight, I just eat too much. I go to the gym 3/4 times a week but I think that gives me an excuse to scoff!

Just reduce your plate size and stay away from white flour products, bread, cakes and biscuits and you should then see the pounds drop off. Get on to 100% wholemeal flour with all the bran included and even make your own wholemeal bread. Try the recipe I use which you can find at : healthscams.org.uk/bake-you...

Couldn't agree with you more about white flour products, I don't like them at all. I make my own sourdough bread and love it and it's certainly made my IBS better. I have even gone off chocolate and never ever thought that would happen.

We do have one square of dark organic chocolate after supper; the second one never tastes as good as the first. Great to hear of someone else who dislikes white flour products. We stayed at a well known hotel in Birmingham where the bread we were given for breakfast would have made good window putty and I told them so. I did find out the name of the supplier of the factory produced rubbish but I dare not tell you here!

I have one confession to make and that is I don't mind French stick but it has to be fresh, however, I probably only eat it about 4 times a year. My go to bread is my home baked sourdough bread and I am just like my dad used to be when he was around in that I love nuts, seeds and wholemeal, my absolute favourite. Agree with you, best not to say who the supplier was.

Thanks for the advice, just back from a few days in Camber Sands, lovely but not good for the diet. I’m going shopping this afternoon so I’ll stock up on healthy food and no bread. That is my downfall.

I eat more fruit and veg than I did a year ago, as part of my weight-loss programme with Weightwatchers. Am now maintaining and still enjoy my new food choices though I stray from time to time. I did exercise (indoor and outdoor walking) more frequently than I do now but I intend to return to that very soon to tone up for the summer!

Great but do watch out for that poisonous substance Aspartame which I saw was in Weightwatchers yoghourts. It's worse than sugar! Check the label before buying.

Thanks Tibblington . Yes I've read about aspartame. I only eat 'regular' food, not products specifically aimed at weight-loss etc. I cook and eat from scratch mainly nowadays. Attendance at Weightwatchers has really helped me to rethink and change my habits re food. By the way I love Total 0% yogurt. Especially with fruit and even some veg! Thanks again.

I eat 5+ portions most days often 7 or 8. I've cut down on fruit and am eating more leafy greens since I've stopped eating meat as I'm trying to keep my macro-nutrients at 50% carbs/30% fat/20% protein of what I eat in a day.

I used to eat a lot more veg but developing an intolerance to all brassicas and alliums makes this more difficult. My fruit to veg ratio is higher than it used to be because of this but better than junk food!

We don't count portions. This figure of five or seven portions was something plucked out of the air in an attempt to get folk to eat more fruit and vegetables; it doesn't really have much relevance to diet quantatively speaking. Just eat fruit and vegetables as they come into season and enjoy them; store them for the forthcoming winter if you have the capacity to do so. This is why I ticked other. Tibbly

I did a healthy eating programme three years ago, it finished just before my grandson was born. Since then I have not lost any weight and I need to.

I'm vegetarian and celiac, so eat plenty of fruit and veg. I try to exercise but have arthritis in my feet. I can't afford any paid exercise as I only have my pension.

Are you eating white bread and other white flour products? Avoid them like the plague and try making your own wholemeal bread. I make two loaves taking just over the hour including cooking, and put one in the freezer for later. I use the recipe at : healthscams.org.uk/bake-you... which I find very simple. Stay away from seed oils (sunflower oil, rape seed oil etc) but use butter and duck fat for cooking, both are natural and we've been eating them for hundreds of years.

Have a look at this to see if it will help your artritis: healthscams.org.uk/cod-live... Good luck.

Tibblington, I said A:- I'm vegetarian

B:- I'm celiac

Therefore I don't eat bread or duck fat. Nor do I ingest cod liver oil.

But thanks for thinking of me.

You made me 😃. Lovely when drumbeaters cannot hear anything else

I exercise on average 5 times a week which is around 1 hour 15 minutes each session and I also avoid most sugar, just need to wean myself off mochas and add cacao powder rather than chocolate powder. I love the raw fruit bars I make and can't think of anything better than putting lots of vegetables on my plate.

Hi there Little_toad, I did very well on the diet and it picked up a few things but I have slipped on noting down what I am eating which is what I am going to do and keep it like that so I can pinpoint anything different in my diet. I had a slip up on Sunday as I went to a friend's house and she cooked a couple of things i.e. spinach and potato cooked in chickpea flour and some doughnut balls (these weren't anything like the shop bought ones and tasted really nice but I only had one and they were tiny little balls). When I came home I ate some dates, I have been eating dates in my raw fruit bars for quite a long time with no ill effect but it's either I ate too many, I had 8, or it's the fact I had something different to eat at my friends which I've never eaten before as I didn't feel very good Sunday or Monday night. My tummy is much better today.

Thank you for asking.

I do try to eat 5 or more portions fruit/veg a day..though not sure if the portion is necessarily 80g. I am on the older side and can't eat as much as when I was younger. Also, through circumstances, I haven't been cycling or walking like I used to (used to go on long tramps over hill and dale, so to speak with a friend who's older than me...but he has something wrong with him now and can no longer do it. And whilst I enjoy walking alone, I prefer to go with someone in cae of injury or ferocious animals or ferocious humans :(
