The church in the forest...🌲β›ͺ️🌲

Hi everyone,

I think that churches have a magical and mystical quality and 100 years ago the church and the pub were at the heart of our communities.

Apparently churches are very geometric and the pillars inside a church have the same circumference as the walls floor and ceiling so if you unraveled a pillar it would be the same area as the floor/wall/ceiling and that's neat in my book.

I also wonder about people who've been in them centuries ago and in this one I saw an interesting gravestone a C Heaven who died 150 odd years ago leaving a loving wife Fanny and I thought how charming is that and he maybe long gone but not forgotten...

So here's a photo there are lots of old Yew trees so it wasn't easy to photo in it's entirety but I thought what a great way to ring in the new year...so here's wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. πŸ”” πŸ”” πŸ””

Jerry 😊

I enjoy looking round graveyards too Jerry, it's so peaceful and there are some fantastic old names on headstones and I like imagining who these people were. Sadly most churches are locked nowadays I guess that's due to concern about thieves and vandals.

Hi Fran, good for you and I like reading the inscriptions too. But sadly churches have gone into decline and are being converted to other uses, so I agree again. 😊

Good Morning Jerry

Your photo is wonderful.

I too have a love of old churches & cemeteries.

History seems to be jumping all about, very soul touching.

Hi Mottsie, thank you its a lovely church so I popped in to check it out today, it's the architect that is like a bygone age as some churches are very old so yes very soul touching with magical/mystical presence. 😊

What a fabulous photo. Churches are such peaceful places and are a good destination to aim for when you’re out for a walk. I also like looking at the gravestones they are so interesting. Happy new year! πŸ™‚πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

Thank you Zest, unfortunately the graveyard is getting dilapidated and could do with some TLC. Its a very pretty church regardless. 😊
