was shocked at my first hosp that the staff didnt know anyting about the vietnam nurses and their ptsd...............(just been through two years of mash like conditions in vet med myself)...

shocked even more that the nurses relay mesages to the patinets that are very negative..........dumping ..........yet .....they dont know the patients at all.......esp the doctors

very revealing

I didn't know that, Brig. I feel very sorry for anyone who went through this. I can't watch Mash or any war movie because it's too triggering.

I think it's important to remember the nurses and how much they saw and went through a terrible trauma.

I hope you are okay... I know it takes me hours to feel better after watching something triggering.

You know, it helped me when I found a therapist who experienced trauma and she has been able to help because she gets it.

She is not in the mental health system, she has a private practice. Somatic experiencing.

It made a difference.

And the bitterness is sharing your trauma, it is like venting and processing but needs to be done gently like you were with your horses, you can't force someone to talk about trauma because they get triggered. It needs to be done very gently and sensitively to have healing effect.

I agree about trusting only someone who won't traumatise you even more...that's very important...
