This is very upsetting for me and no doubt anyone who reads this.

i year ago, I was babysitting my daughters little girl..21 months old.,her mum had left to go to work at 5.50 after .giving her milk in a bottle and also giving her 7 month old one,I went to babysit at their house to relieve her stepfather so he could go to work at 7.40.I checked her twice, first time she was breathing, second time moving,as if about to wake up,at 8.40,10 minutes later there was nothing,Iam an ex RGN.managed to resuscitate her, until emergency paramedis arrived at 9am,she was ventilated but life support turned off 15 hours later.Does anyone know of any web sites abour brain anoxia,The medical experts can be no more accurate that the assult occurred between 5.30 and when the paremedics got there...incidentally her temperature was 34 degrees on admission

Hello sujoe,

Thank you for your post, and I am so sorry to hear of this situation.

There is some information on anoxia / hypoxia on the Headway website at headway.org.uk/anoxic-brain... that might be helpful.

It seems like a huge challenge to try to piece together the events of that day however, and perhaps we can help get you some appropriate support through this difficult time. Can I suggest you contact our helpline on 0808 800 2244 or helpline@headway.org.uk to discuss this in more detail and in confidence with us?

We look forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Headway.

Hi Sujoe

I am not at home at the moment as I am staying elsewhere, therefore have no information with me. However, my son (who was 25 at the time) went without oxygen for between10--15 minutes due to NHS negligence. This was three and a half years ago, he survived, although he suffered a major brain injury, and is making progress day by day. I am no expert, but having been through it with him, and also having to obtain and dissect all the medical notes in order to make a legal complaint to the hospital, I do have some knowledge of anoxic brain injuries. If you would like to message me if you would like a "chat" I would be only too pleased to help if I can.

It is a dreadful thing that you endured. I cannot imagine what you have been through, but know that if anything happened to my three year old grandson whilst he was with me I would be devastated as I feel sure you must be. My heart goes out to you. The links given above will give you some good information. I hope that you find the answers you are looking for, and as said before, if you ever want to get in contact, please don't hesitate.

Take good care and fondest regards.
