google the differences between right brain and left brain hemispheres and their functions. Songs and language are opposites. youtu.be/0mGSx14PqPE

Hi,my husband has a hypoxic brain injury and unable to read or write. He can't remember anything from before, except music. He remembers bands and the singers and sings along to stuff too.The brain is a complicated thing.Keep on singing.

I also lost the ability to read or right properly at 10 years old my schooling nose dived into oblivion as a result of my BI n it's still the same today I've never read a book or wrote much since 1983 but music is something that I've always been able to keep old of in my head admittedly I do lose myself sometimes but it's mind blowing how complex the brain is thankyou so much for your comment it's nice to know I'm not on my own with this my head will only allow me to use visual cues I'm unable to think properly..sending you good luck on your own journey and I'll will sing till the cows come home 🤣🤣👍👍

The more I try to do the more I’m forgetting things or no memory of that at all .. didn’t recognise my own PJs but the more I looked at them I started to remember .. a carpark but know idea what it looked like or the road to it , kept driving until I found it . Which I did 😁 these are just a couple of very random things . And words can be mixed up or forgotten completely .. I try to find the funny side but some days it not so easy to do .. keep singing

It's such a hard thing for me to think of words to start a conversation of any sort there's so much confusion going on yet as soon as I hear music I know it's like my brain wakes up for a few minutes..I try not to think too hard about anything as it makes things worse..my mind just does it's own thing 😆I too try to find the funny side but I can't laugh all the time👍thankyou for your comment 👍

I have a similar situation. I call it an earworm. It involves me waking up witha song / tune / lyrics in my head that I cannot forget. I love music from to 70's & 80's - mainly Rock / ProgRock. Annoyingly the music I cannot forget is not of this genre but usually somthing I severely dislike (can you beleive ABBA!), it's also something I have no recollection of ever listening to. I discuused this with various doctors and they cannot give an explanation or cure (one thought it was funny!)

hey s.you are of course correct.its proven that people that have no speech can sing and swear,i have witnessed this with my son.we have spent many hours with me saying tell me anything beginning with b.c.d whatever.quick as a flash.bad words of course but we laugh.he can also sing a song(it is bad as he was always tone deaf)but he knows the words.remarkable really.keep the faith swear as much as you like love .best wishes xx

Yes, I had my abi 30 years ago and I still find this. I find it hard to to retain information but I can remember lyrics of songs when I start to sing them . I think you use a different part of your brain and the rhythm helps. When I was doing exams I have even tried to put the important bits of information to music to help me to remember.

It's an amazing thing still being able to sing I'm no good singer by a long chalk but I do enjoy it the left side of my brain is broke but my right side seems o.k I've never had a test on my head..I shall keep singing regardless of which bit is broke in my 🧠😂👍I can smile and laugh at stuff I can't do these days..thankyou for your comment 👍
