Hi Gordo, this article uses nice words like protocol, but doesn't say how they came up with this, any trial information, numbers, ratio of outcomes. What is more of a concern is it links to a product that the Dr appears to have links with. I'm sorry, but it does seem to be a snake oil treatment (well fish oil). Where is the peer review etc?

Hi Boots, well there are a number of recent studies, too many to put here. Just google Omega3 for brain injury. Yes the Dr. is a spokesperson for a certain brand of fish oil it’s the one he uses to treat brain injury. He gives you a link for a discount if you choose to use this specific brand. I choose to use a different but equal type. Anyway I’m living proof that this protocol works. The medical establishment has 0 treatments for brain injury. They can only treat specific conditions, anxiety, depression etc. etc. and as we all know these are stop gap at best and highly addictive at worst . My primary care doctor had no idea how to treat me. At release from the hospital my symptoms were severe anxiety, depression, fatigue, mood swings, sugar lows, fantom pain in right hand , visual sensitivity and sensitivity to sound. My instructions from Dr. was go home and rest and eat a high fat diet. That’s it! Being the person that I am that was not good enough . I read several studies after I found the Omega3 protocol and started using it. Within 2 weeks my symptoms started to subside now 9 months later all are resolved except feeling slightly off balance nerou psychologist says most likely my eyes. The reason I’m here telling people about it is from what I’ve read a lot of the persons here on Unlocked are suffering for years with the same symptoms I was having and this natural oil may just help them , cannabis was considered snake oil but that has changed . Anyway end of rant! 😊

Hi there G, how is your dizziness going - have you tried out the exercises, what sort of results have you had?

Don't forget that every brain injury is different and has a different trajectory - yours may have had a relatively and mercifully short trajectory, with or without taking the omega 3

Hi Jen not doing to bad, yes I’ve been doing the exercises , they made me a little worst at first now getting easier. Waiting for a referral for some testing with neuropsychologist so we will see what happens. Yes very true I guess I what to help people a little too much ha ha everyone is different but if this info can help anyone I would be happy 😊 How are you doing?

Oh that's brilliant if you noticed an effect from the exercises, that means they're the right thing to work on - just lots of repetition.

As we come out of lockdown here, I think I've been trying to do more, see more people, and my fatigue was getting worse, so I had some quiet days this week, slept better as had less fatigue, and so feel pretty good now, thanks - just got to keep things in balance now 😊

Glad to hear your doing well. Lockdown is easing here also, going to get a hair cut next week have one year of growth , hair hasn’t been this long since the 70’s ha ha. I know what you mean about balance, over did yesterday so now I have a sore back and tired. Sleep does wonders! Have a good weekend 😊

I didn't consider it to be a rank, but a well thought out point. Yes cannabis has had a bad rap since it's prohibition, but like a lot of things that are common place are derived from drugs that are possibly worse, e.g. opioids.

It was just the quality of article that made me question it. Omega 3 has had a long history of beneficial claims, but seldom backed up by good evidence.

I am ten years on, and experienced many of the symptoms you have mentioned.

I remember reading about omega 3 many years ago, pre brain hiccup, and trying what was suggested, with no measurable results.

So I am not anti omega 3, just like to see good quality evidence, and as you presented the theory, I just wanted to understand if you could support the protocol with double blind RCT, and peer review.

If omega 3 is the golden bullet, then why is it not widely promoted?

Happy weekend.

Hi Boots , point taken, I get a little over zealous sometimes. I’m just drawing from my own experience. As you said it may work for one and not the other, and of course we would find plenty of pro and con on this or any other subject. Have a Good Weekend also.

Nothing wrong with being over zealous, it's how knowledge and change is driven.

Hello Pairofboots - I think I understand where you're coming from. Here is yet another perspective on the idea of any treatment, medication, potion or other options whether they be medical, peer reviewed, double blind studied, so called natural, or even unbelievable. In my personal experience and those of others I know one size does not seem to fit all even with so called exact or even similar symptoms. Example - with the many antidepressants available it seems a process of elimination to find the magic one or combination of multiple medications to achieve the desired outcome. Sadly there are those who don't seem to be able to find the combination that actually gives the desired results. While science does offer a methodical and maybe best chance of determining all of that, it still has its own limits, due in my opinion to so many unknown variables for each unique individual.

At any rate in my limited range of experience and knowledge, I've found each person has to figure out what works for them and be grateful for that. It doesn't mean that it will work the same for another person regardless of the amount of science and research behind it or lack thereof.

I know from past conversations with you that you are well qualified from the medical/scientific point of view and therefore I understand your asking the questions here that you have.

Thanks sca. I know one glove doesn't fit all, but I worry about articles that seem to have more of a financial gain than aim to improve quality of life. Many are quite slick and inflate the benefits of their claims. Unfortunately, with the internet, there are too many people that prey on the vulnerable.

I'm not suggesting that Gordo's intention is driven, he has found something that works for him, and I'm glad of that.

When you suggest something to others, only in my opinion, you need to support what you suggest.

Like you say my background does make me question, and I know that I don't know everything, therefore I am more likely to ask for evidence.

Cheers, take care.
