Hi, hello to you all. I have had a TBI since the end of 2017. To begin with I didn't quite believe or rather understand the situation I now find myself. It has been very hard to accept and admit to myself that this is a new road in life, a far different road that I am used to but perhaps a more colourful and interesting journey.

Thank you, I hope to learn from this community and maybe contribute something of myself.

Hi, I had a tbi in 2016 and for the first 2 years I refused to accept that I had a brain injury but despite all the pitfalls that come with it there can also be good times as well. Maybe different to how they were before but still laugh and smile when you can or if you can. There are some really knowledgeable people on this forum, me not included obviously 😄

Hi and welcome,

To have a tbi in 2017 and be able to accept that you have changed is doing really well.

The hard part of the journey is acceptance . After that any adapting you need to do is easier.

Hope you find the site useful ( if only to have a rant now and then). You will find many answers to any problem you may encounter. Hope some will work but some may not. But all the answers given are done so out of support for each other.

I hope you dont encounter problems in your life but hey let's be real we all do, if so ask away on here.

All the best

Pax

You've achieved the difficult bit which is overcoming the desire to 'Get back to normal' and accepting the new version of yourself.

I've been coming here daily since 2012 knowing it's where I'm free to be the real (new) me without judgement & share some humour now & again ...

So welcome Tunas ; feel free to share more of your story or to just join in with general chat ! 😐 Cat x

Hello tunas, welcome to a place where you can get things off your chest freely. I think it took me a lot longer than you to accept things were going to be different forever so well done. Denial that anything is wrong and that you will magically return to your pre TBI self one day is clearly not a very healthy way of living but I believe we've all done it at some point and some for longer than others. I find using this service, which I also only started recently, has a calming effect on me. I hope it will have the same effect on you.
