Does anyone take fluoxetine anti depressants I’m seriously struggling mentally and I’ve spoken to the doctor and his going to prescribe me these but I’m scared about the risks of seizures and fits I haven’t had one and I pray that I will never have one but I’m so scared but I need something to lift me extremely low mood I don’t know what else to do my physcology appointments have been on hold since March so I’m basically having to cope by myself and it’s so hard I just want to be me again and I’m not pain and not suffering with ptsd depression anxiety it’s not fair

And to top it off I’m going through a break up with my partner of 13 years I feel like I’m setting him free so he doesn’t have to put up with me and he can go and be happy with someone else

I am sorry that things are so tough for you.

I would say give the Headway helpline a call on 0808 800 2244. I think they would be able to help you.

I wish you all the best. 🙄🌸

I was prescribed Fluoxetine (the generic name for Prozac) many years ago to help me cope with the death of my mum. The effects were very positive and, after the initial period of assimilation, the only side-effects were dry mouth, constipation and increased appetite.

Feelings of unreality or other odd sensations aren't uncommon during the first 2 to 3 weeks ; this is the brain recognising and processing the new chemical and is completely normal with any SSRI. Once the drug fully kicks in the beneficial effects can be life changing. Hope it works well for you m'dear....

Yes I’ve been prescribed them and they give me the release from worry so that I can be confident to meet up with friends.

I’ve never had a fit either and I don’t think these pills will make it.

I’m sorry to hear you’re breaking up with your partner and maybe they want to be there for the bad as well as the good.

It’s very difficult at the moment with the lockdown and the germs

hold off of giving your partner of 13 yrs (long time!) the short walk for the time being. If your partner wanted to leave, they would have done so a long time ago. Dont push away a supporting beam in your life right now.

As regards the medication. it will take a lot of the edge off of things. there may be some side affects, but chances are you wont have the most serious of them. They are mostly listed there as a 'Just In Case' 0 if not, there, could result in costly lawsuits against the pharma.. company

Hang tight, let the medication work for you, and dont kick 13 yrs away. please.

You've had some good advice above, and it is all positive. Go with the fluoxetine. It is highly unlikely to have harmful effects and will improve your mood and help you to cope. Don't force your partner away. Let him make his own decision and support you.
