Trepidation rising,

Corner turned, familiar face,

Beamed smiles of recognition,

And a genuine embrace.

A script, no better,

Had it been,

My own words used to form,

A haven of compassion,

With a welcome truly warm.

The trip for needed paperwork,

With trusted guide in tow,

My workplace and for many years,

Yet felt so strange, unknown.

I could have met up somewhere else,

And simply passed a note,

But due to stubborn reasons,

Latest task grabbed by the throat,

Some quiet conversations,

Once I'd made it through the door,

To many, nothing special,

But to those who know the score,

Another step was taken,

On a list with much to do,

Regardless of the setbacks,

I will conquer, as will you.

The skills relearned, The hurdles cleared,

So personal to all,

Yet common joy in triumph,

Whether shattering or small,

The walk outside, the hair that's washed,

Revisiting the past,

Whatever goal is met provides,

A memory to last.
