My partner had a haemorrhagic stroke 7 months ago due to a burst AVM whilst she was 6 months pregnant. She is writing a blog about her road to recovery, please feel free to follow it if any of you can relate to it.

Stroke whilst pregnant
Thanks JM. I will certainly take the time to read this later. I have an unruptured AVM although it caused a 'stroke mimic' in 2016. Fortunately I have undergone 2 pregnancies without rupture or stroke so consider myself very lucky. Apparently the risk is greater during pregnancy due to increased hormone levels. Very best wishes to your partner.
what do you mean when you say it caused a "stroke mimic"?
Hi Misswoosie. Sorry for the delay. In Feb 16 I had an 'episode'. It felt like something popping and then I couldn't see properly. Turned out I had similar symptoms to those suffered after a stroke (weakness all down my left side) without having had an actual stroke. I spent some time in hospital and had loads of rehab to get me walking etc again. I'm virtually back to normal now although my leg does still stiffen at times and I am a bit less coordinated. The docs still don't know what caused this to happen to me. But apparently 'stroke mimic' (something pretending to be a stroke is now a thing (albeit not very recognised yet).
Wow must be tough I had a brain haemorrhage caused-by an AVM 10 years ago but I’ve recently had a baby unfortunately I never fully recovered from side effects of the stroke I just do best i can I would be interested to read the blog
