So I suppose the good news is that they have assessed kev and they don’t think that he has a mental disorder and think that the aggression is part of the brain injury! The bad news is that they feel that there is substantial damage which is also causing the memory and confusion issues. He is being transferred back to the rehab centre and will no longer be under section and I just hope and pray that when he sees me he will not have the same aggression issues. I so want to help him with all of this and reassure him and it is so hard when he pushes me away!! They have given him medication that they say has taken the edge off so fingers crossed for a more settled kev tomorrow!

Thanks for all of your support xx

anyone with a brain injury could have told you that. dont expect the same kev that was before the brain injury, we all change. we look in the mirror, yes we look the same but mentally we re different.

this is going to be hard for you, i know what i did to my wife, but i didnt know what i was saying was hurtful, it wasnt until she dragged me along to the gp and broke down, i didnt have the foggiest.

so i agreed to take medication for my aggression and mood swings ( i was never aggressive to her, but because i was noise intolerant i could get aggressive with the neighbours. so she was coming home from work worrying if id belted someone who d annoyed me.

Thank you Steve! I am prepared for the aggression and know it’s not him. He’s in place where they can cope with him now - short term hopefully xx

find your local monthly headway group, youll meet people like us further along in our journey and youll meet the darlings who put up with us, a whole new social group, who will truly understand what your husband is going through, something people who havent had a brain injury will never understand.

I hope it’s a better day for you. It’s extremely tough for everyone involved. The thing is we want quick changes but he often is small steps. But every Little step is still in the right direction.

God Bless try to keep strong and also keep yourself safe. Was Kev aggressive before his brain injury or has his aggression started since.

Love Liz x

How was your visit today Teresa ? xx

Well all very frustrating as he is still at the psychiatric unit as still being assessed! I did speak to him on the phone and he seemed pleased to hear from me and showed no aggression at all. They are still deciding whether he should go back to the rehabilitation centre or to a more intense rehab centre which will also help with the aggression presentation he shows at times.

No further forward and I haven’t seen him for a week now! I can only hope they move him quickly (the nearest centre they have suggested is over an hour away so it will be weekend visiting which actually might be a good thing!)

Thanks Cat xxx

I have been thinking about you both. It does sound an excellent opportunity for Kev to receive the correct approach to help him with any aggression. Weekend visiting soon comes round. Good luck

Perhaps the meds are working ? I hope so. The intensive rehab sounds like a great opportunity for Kev to work, full time, on addressing his aggressiveness. And hopefully the medication might allow him to focus enough to start 'owning' his issues.

The visiting restrictions might give you the time and space to lick your own wounds and also build up your strength & health.............................. though I know you'll miss your man m'love.

At the very least Kev's now correctly diagnosed so there's no excuse for inappropriate treatment or further delays.

Keep the updates coming won't you Teresa ; meanwhile I'll be thinking of you. Cat xxx
