Oh how great these assessments are.

Had simular experience. On a bad day I struggle to get out of bed due to pain.

" so how far can I walk pain free?" Errrrr I can't

" can you make a meal.?"

Not unless I sleep in the kitchen.

" can I go up or downstairs unaided?"

If I slide down in my bed then maybe.

What do they not get about worse day.

Why ask what you are like on a worse day...Then ignore it.

Have succeeded with pips....Now under reassement for esa which they now inform me will probably cause a pip reassement. I was assessed for pips in at the end of last year.

Oh and throw an audit of direct payments as well and I am a little stressed at moment.

I so sympathise with you over Pips it is an unbelievable mis managed and flawed system which at times beggars belief. Another situation as disabled people with brain damage to contend with I've been there too. I liked your ranting sarcastic video said with feeling ha ha good luck x

Andy what can I say,

I think that what they expect is us to be incomprehensible morons. You are too eloquent as most of us are. It appears we should not strive to be the best we can and then show it to the world. Then we are recovered and better.

There are so many households as ours are, living a shadow of the life of others but it is so painful to not be believed.

My sympathies, I know I would not pass a PIP assessment as I can achieve many of those things and luckily I escaped contracting epilepsy or it would have been a different situation.

Up and at ‘em Andy I’m sure you will not let them get away with it.

Take care

Please say you are going to appeal this decision as infuriating and degrading as it is to go through this process. Will you dress appropriately for the climate? Perhaps walk in wearing nothing but your nightly breathing apparatus.

My work as a helpline advisor for a charity allows me to hear very similar tales from people suffering other equally disabling conditions. Their medical reports and doctors’ letters are also ignored. It’s a crime that you and others have to endure these assessments at all.

As you say, it’s not just the loss of PIP but the Baroness is losing her Carer’s Allowance. Not to mention the knock on effect of being unable to pay for your housing. Find someone to help you fight this, Andy.

If you are going to dispute this decision you definitely need specialist advice, as the relationship between the frequency of a seizure and degree of risk is a complex matter, another issue for PIP is majority of the time rather than worst day.

If anyone is feeling really bored Upper Tribunal decision CSPIP 97/2016, defines some of the pertinent issues for a Tribunal to consider concerning safety and risk, a Google search should bring it up.

It worth looking at this if only to convince someone advice should be sought.

I’m so sorry you’re having to experience this situation when you always try to do your best to overcome your issues.

Am I misunderstanding the rules or were you supposed to attend your PIP appointment naked, on a stretcher, not having eaten for a week, not having bathed for a week and whacking anyone who asked you a question? In the interests of fairness - why is this advice not on the Pip web site? Surely that would help assessments along if more people were aware that this was what they were expected to do?

Oops - I think what I meant to say is why are people with brain injury not assessed by someone who specialises in recognising hidden disability? That’s something I don’t understand. Do appeal, it seems like they chose not to include the evidence you provided? Why is that? It’s baffling isn’t it?

Why does PIp employer unqualified assessors who aren’t fit for the role? I think you need to apply to become a PIp assessor, Youd be qualified to assess people with brain injury. But if you didn’t do your job properly they couldn’t sack you on medical grounds cos they’ve already assessed you as being in perfect health. If you took time off sick following a seizure they couldnt say you were medically incapable of working for them bexuae you’ve got the evidence from two of their assessors in writing.

Look on the bright side, your GP and your neurologist will be delighted that you’ve experienced an overnight miracle recovery and they don’t need to give you any more epilepsy tablets. AA&E will be pleased to know that you’re not havjbfb any more seizures and they won’t have to treat you for any more falls. You can go out in the comfort that you’re never going to need to worry about the loo and the issues you’ve had with that have all magically cleared up.

Oh dear :( joking aside.......Good luck Andy - let us know how it goes.
