New and very lucky to be alive

Hello I'm new here.

My name is Ben and I'm very lucky to be alive after I suffered severe brain injuries that left me in a coma for 13 weeks in a car crash that happened on the 14/9/2017-last year. I was in the ICU for the first 3 weeks.

I don't remember the car crash that I nearly died in, but a close family friend, who was the front seat passenger, has told me that the car I was driving skidded out of control and flipped over 360 3 times after kids decided to throw bricks onto the motorway, for a laugh.

I was only discharged from hospital 2 days ago by surprise. Still on crutches and have to see my physiotherapist once a week. I also have problems with fatigue, my memory and moods as a result of the severe brain injuries I suffered that near tragic day in September last year.

I have a wonderful and caring family, close family friends and workmates who will always stay by my side no matter what happens to me.

I hope those idiots are aware of the devastating injuries and heartache they've caused ! That isn't mischief ; it's attempted murder. ...........sorry Ben, but it's one of those mindless acts which makes my blood boil. Were they ever held to account ?

But I'm so pleased you've made good progress after such an age in 'limbo' and that you've come here to share your continuing journey with us.

So (should have said this straight away) Welcome Ben and hope to see you around as a regular, with updates on your progress. Love Cat x

Hello Cat3

Don't be sorry you're right it was attempted murder, those stupid idots should've known better, not to do something like they did and yes they were held to account for what they did that day because the full accident was caught on CCTV! I've been told that the idots are now aware of the heartache and devastating injuries they've caused! The idots nearly killed me and my family friend and it also makes my blood boil as well!!

Thanks for welcoming me as well.

Ben

I suppose motorway bridges should have the sides covered with strong mesh, but what a shame it should even be necessary. (Pity swearing isn't tolerated on here or I could say what I really think). 😠

I'm really glad to hear you have so much support from family & friends though Ben and I wish you every success in reaching the best possible level of recovery. 😊 Cat xx

It’s a long road , I’ve just hit the year mile , it does get better but it’s slow and frustrating and the people on here are brilliant because they all understand what you are going through xxx

I had my car accident in 1998 unconscious for 3 months then in rehabilitation hospital for a year or so I cannot rember the full length of time, then brought a house with 24 hour care. I now have Physio often to keep my muscles supple and assist my brain and muscles to take and receive messages to walk. Unfortunately I need to use a wheelchair to move outside my home. I can walk around the house as I am aware when things are to assist my balance. My family were very supportive but my husband cannot cope any more with my moods so he has filed for a divorce.

Life goes on though.

Best wishes
