Hi all, sorry if Ive not replied to messages but I had a fall yesterday and ended up in hospital and in lots of pain. On crutches and not able able to weight bear. Ive put my knee and shin out of alignmemt and tore ligaments. Im waiting on the orthapedic surgeon to make a decision as to how to treat me. So on strong painkillers and feeling a numpty. 😀 I don't know about you all but trying to deal with another problem on top of our usual problems is rather frustrating! But still smiling. Its quite refreshing to have another body part to take to hospital instead of it being my head all the time! 😁😁

Oh that's rotten luck Lisa-Marie ! Around this time last year I broke my foot and was out of action for over 6 weeks, so I really do empathise.

It's SO annoying looking back and thinking how UN-necessary it was and 'If only I hadn't' . . . . ?

Keep taking the painkillers m'dear ; it'll test your patience but my A&E doctor told me it's character building..............(whatever). Get better soon ! Cat x

Thanks Cat, share your feelings exactly! Im so cross at myself for not paying attention. Pain killers are helping massively. As for the doctor saying its character building, they should see what warriors we already are with brain injury lol. One "helpful" doctor I rang as I was suffering an awful headache and no medication was touching it suggested i tried two patacetemol and a glass of water 😂😂😂 bless them. Xx

Funny thing is though, 12 months after my SAH I had an infection of the gall bladder (gall-stones - subsequently removed) and the Morphine wasn't relieving the pain, So a doctor set up a Paracetamol drip (I'm thinking 'This is a joke')..................but it was amazing ; virtually knocked me out !

So yes, it's brilliant used intravenously but not in 500mg tablet form ! 😠 x

I use to use Morphine to control cancer pain. For bad pain this was given by 24hr via injection,

Yes Mufc it's a great drug for pain control ; just doesn't work on me. x

It is possibly important you receive physiotherapy. You may find it be official to see a therapist who deals with brain injury to. I’d be lost without my Physio she deals with head injury to so I do not feel embarrassed repeating things😀also she knows what I my body can cope with.

Great advice, Im hoping they offer it if not Im going to push for it. I have a neuro O.T so she may be able to sort something. Im able to put a bit of weight on it now, its always the same knee i fall on though. Need to get some advice I think. Xx

Lisa I Also had an O. T but I did not find them help-as much as my physiotherapist. In my opinion a therapist expects you to do things a physiotherapist realise your body cannot do things as easily.

Sorry to hear this. It does make a change worrying about another part of the body.

I must admit managing to stay on my feet lately , although I recently slid and have now pulled the good part of my back. So I am also a bit woozy at times due to pain killers.

I carry a headway card ( old style, I'm applying for the new one). This helps when trying to explain in a and e and not making sense.

Hope you get better...Or at least return to your usual health soon.

Pax

Hi Pax thanks for replying, sorry to hear youve hurt your back, thats very painful. Hope it heals quickly, we dont bounce like kids do when they fall over do we? Hurts like hell. Ive just seen about the Headway card so Im going to call about one on Monday. It will be great instead of trying to explain myself. Xx
