Good evening sir/ Ma

I wish to say a big thank you to all your advice and help support giving on this platform it’s amazing

Last 3 month ago I had my 12mm aneurysm treatment by coiled. The surgery went well and I was discharged 3rd day.

It’s was hard for me but I recovered slowly and everyday has been good so now I started to go back to my job as a driver

But now I discovered that when I do anything much I have a feeling at the back of my neck feeling heavy up to my head but when I rest or sleep it’s become better or if I take paracetamol

Please has anyone experienced this after aneurysm coiled and how long does it take to recover fully then I noticed that I am having constipation

Sorry for taking your time

Please any advice

Thank you

I'm surprised you're back at work driving so soon, but not at all surprised you're struggling to cope. You were discharged on the 3rd day after coiling ; can I ask did you have a bleed ?

Dear Cat 3

Thank you for your response I am happy as you are always help with advice and support.

My aneurysm was 12 mm at the back of my brain but not bleed before I had the treatment.

After my discharge I was told to be on one daily of 75 mm of Aspirin for 3 months.

Thank you for your response

Eliza ? It's difficult to compare our experiences as my coiling was the result of a spontaneous haemorrhage. So I was hospitalised for two months, and still experience after effects even after 5 years.

But I know that the bleed itself caused most of the damage, though surely any surgical procedure within the brain, however unintrusive, will result in some degree of damage.

I'd advise you to contact Headway, if you haven't already, for further information on the after effects of coiling of an unruptured aneurism. The helpline number is 0808 800 2244 (free calls-office hours).

Again, I'm guessing, but I imagine that 3 months post coiling is a very short recovery time and you've basically been overdoing things !

Take care of yourself m'dear.......... Cat x

The constipation could be from the medications you were given while in the hospital, shock to the system, and just the added stress of all of it. Sometimes you just need some yogurt or acidophilus to reestablish the natural flora of the intestines. I found magnesium capsules helped me. I experimented adding 200 mg per day until things resolved. Now I take about 800 mg per day.
