New on here. Life after a SAH

This is my second time on here. First time was to give advise. So more about me🙂. My name is Lisa and I suffered a SAH back in 2015. For the first week they were treating me for a migraine until 3rd time in A&E they discovered something in my eye so I had a scan. They advised they found a bleed. I have had coils fitted on the bleed which has worked. I was in hospital for 2 weeks then discharged since then I have had NO help what so ever. I have memory issues, fatigue, depression and my local jobcentre is trying to get me ready for going back into work. I’m still on ESA until June next year but they are pushing me to do something. I feel like I’m on my own fighting my battles daily. I have my mam and dad that are there for me but only 1 friend to talk to. Can anyone advise me on the way forward who knows what I’m going through.

Hello

I don't have any useful knowledgeable advice I can give you but have you tried getting in touch with Headway for some advice support? I have returned to work but I have limitations i.e tiredness and brain fog particularly in the afternoon, which were not there before my bout of encephalitis 18 mths ago. I do have some difficulties coping with my job and guess this will remain a constant. Unfortunately brain injury is a hidden form of injury and it is difficult for people to see what we cope with on a daily basis. Not much help I know, but I do understand what you are going through. Best of luck to you. Clare

Hi there. I have a medical problem called AVM, which is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the brain within which an artery has become joined with a vein creating a pool of blood between them. I know I have the potential to bleed at any time but so far am well and good with no rupture. Like your bleed, my problems were identified through headaches and an eye test. They saw something behind my eyes and I was sent for a CT scan. I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. But the good thing about this site is that we all try to understand and support each other. I know what you mean about being pushed all the time. But its important that you talk to someone about how you feel. I would start with your GP but if you don't get much joy find a counsellor or someone that will listen to you. I think you have pent up feelings that you really need to get out. And you may find that doing so aids your recovery and general well-being. Best of luck. Lulu

An Occupational Health Therapist can help people with disabilities/limitations return to work, and examines the work environment to see what adaptations or allowances might be appropriate to accomodate them.

Here's a link which explains it in detail :- hse.gov.uk/sicknessabsence/...
