I just burst out laughing after i told some people what had happened to me in the past. The woman's reply was "Well you don't look ill"

My husband has a brain injury, cancer and is now getting dementia - people tell him all the time 'but you look so healthy!' We always think it very funny - especially as they really mean it as a compliment"

Yep I've had this said to me and all my problems minimized as being part of getting old. Also when i've spoken of limited financial income have had my OAP neighbour say to me 'we all have to live on a pension'! I am not an oap!!!

I was lost for words last year when after explaining about my aneurysm, op and side effects some one boldly spoke up and said, " I get terrible travel sickness and it lasts for days" then her husband backs her up by saying " see, you didn't know she was as poorly as you! " I was truly lost for words.

Good God it must be awful being travel sick for days. This is certainly serious and feel sorry for the poor woman ------- for having a husband who is such a dick and being born such a silly cow

the worst is when someone doesn't understand what you' ve just said so they just smile sweetly and gloss over the question and ignore that you even spoke........instead of just telling you they can't understand.....grrrrrrr.........lol

It happens all the time..They think it's a compliment I suppose.

The best one is " but you look so normal"......error what am I supposed to look like.

I now answer " oh god I hope I dont look that bad jeeeez fancy being normal "

Don't do normal ..It's boring.
