Hello,

What are your symptoms?

Thank u guys for ur kindness...it is actually started in two years ago. i had an love affair with a guy.he cheated me and played games with me.that made me always suspect him and argue with him.because of these problems i used to think about issues between us day and night.i had debt burden, and problems at office.and the love affair was not a happy for me since he was rude and un affectionate.

with the time i started feeling unhappy.i always had a question mood in my mind.one day i suddenly felt somthing inside my head is drying.after that i lost my sleep.i started over eating.and then one day i heard sounds similer to birds sounds inside my head.by that time my mind was totally confused. and i was kind of out of my mind.

then i started medication.my 1st psychiatric said im having depression. i got medicine for about 3 months and i changed the doctor.then my second psychiatric said im having schizophrenia.then i got medication for that about a year.then my office people found a good doctor.he did a ect treatment and then i started feeling somewhat better.

but my problem is, i still do not have feelings,emothings,nothing....

and i cant logically think, cant memories things, cant imagine, cant concentrate, cant multitask, it is like i cant use my mind or brain..

i want to know is this kind of brain damage???

guys pls pls pls reply.. i really need to know this......

Hi and welcome, so sorry you're suffering all this distress. You do need to go back to your g.p. to seek proper medical advice. Most people on this forum know howntheir brain injury started.......accidents / head injury / strokes / aneurysms / diseases like encephalitis / tumours etc. This is needs to be diagnosed. If there's a physical cause for your symptoms - you should ask your doctor if it can be investigated, remember to mention if you've had any untreated head trauma or pain. Good luck with your search for an answer. x

No, well spotted, I am not Kathey!

She might not have known it had happened - it is a scenario I presented to my neurosurgeon after they discovered my annie 4 years after I suffered sudden stroke like symptoms and was left with problems with mobility, concentration, fatigue, information processing yada yada. He said that yes, that could have happened, or it could have been the double bubbling of my annie that caused the changes in brain functioning. No way of knowing now of course, because at the time I was told to go home and rest on the basis that it was just a really bad migraine....

Point I was trying to make is that a brain injury can be silent, go unnoticed, and indeed undiagnosed. It doesn't have to be because you hit your head.

But no offence taken. You have to be quite horrible to me before that happens..... ;-)

Hi Kathey...

As Elenor has said usually people will know the source of a brain injury/damage such as an accident or other injury or a medical condition that results in injury to the brain...if you have not experienced any of these things then it is rather unlikely that your symptoms would be due to a brain injury.

The symptoms you describe are typical of certain mental illnesses and if you are diagnosed and being treated for these then perhaps talking to your doctors and getting some reassurances that you are on the right medications/treatment plan and that what you are feeling right now is expected for someone with your conditions may help.

ECT can affect memory quite badly and some of the drugs used to treat psychotic illnesses can have emotionally blunting effects too, your doctors should be able to help you manage these.

It can be quite scary to have all these things going on and not being able to understand what is happening and why but your doctors really are the best people to help you to deal with this. I wish you luck.

Thank u very much everyone.to be honest my doctor always tries to get rid of the questions that i ask from his regarding my illness. when i say my symptoms what he says u dont have a sickness now and he just smile. That makes me really annoying how could he say so when i suffer like this. This is my head not his..Sri Lankan Psychiatrics are such mean fellows. They want only money. They do not care what ever happen to us..feel really disappointing...
