For me it's the time, even when I'm looking directly at a clock

Hi Huwbo,

I have a prob with dates and ages. Unless it has recently been a special date I am generally clueless but mostly within the right month ! Usually okay with the day of the week as my alternate work pattern helps me remember. For some reason I keep thinking I am a year older than I actually am so when I was told that it is apparently my birthday soon ( had realised last week but forgotten again ) I told my sister I would be 48 instead of 47. She had to remind me that we are 3 years apart and her next is the big Five O : )

This gives me the Hawaii Five 0 titles image in my head with the guys furiously paddling the canoe so this picture is probably how I will remember our ages this time ! : )) So Hawaii Five 0 minus 3 = my age. Whatever floats your boat ... or canoe : )

P.S Tuesday is refuse bins/ recycling night - I totally cheat most times and wait to see which bins the neighbours put out first before I make my selection ! : ))

Happens all the time for me, pretty much everyday, your not on your own, usually I think it's a different day so e.g. on sunday just gone I thought it was saturday, I've gone a full week thinking every day was a wednesday don't know why a wednesday, today I didn't even know what day it was and couldn't put my finger on any day, I'm getting used to not knowing which day it is from one day til the next,

your in good company on here, any questions you've got don't hesitate to ask, always someone to answer any question :)

Take care,

Siobhan x

THAT was one of my major sources of irritation in the hospital! I was in for two weeks, and can't remember ANY of the first week, due to the sedation etc, I got really cross at the nurses who had to check my verbal response by asking me what day it was, and which hospital I was in... 'cheated' by listening to the other patients, bearing in mind we'd all had our brains stirred up, that wasn't always reliable.

I work in a school, and it's the summer break, in England, apologies to anyone in Scotland, who will most likely be in the last-week-where-are-the-PE-kits stage. It's great having six weeks 'off', although I am 'on call' for any serious cases that come in over the break, BUT I have virtually no clue what day it is for six weeks- I know today's Wednesday, because I have the landlord's inspection today, but I don't think I have anything booked in next week... I'll be eating sandwich meat straight out of the fridge, in my pyjamas...

Time is irrelevant, lunchtime doubly so.

I book appointments on Fridays, even though I know my husband is at work on Fridays and can't possibly take me, so I think I have a total disconnect with what the days are called. I turn up to things (including church services, which can be a bit embarrassing when you are meant to be leading them....) in the village on the wrong day at the wrong time frequently. I actually rarely know what day it is....but I think that I do and so make a confident pronouncement of 'It is Thursday today, isn't it?' only to have my children laugh at me.

When I tell other people ( normals) they always say 'oh yes, I do that all the time'. I find I have to pull them up on their definition of ALL the time, because I can be pretty confident I do it an awful lot more of the time than they do.

I write out my to do list for the week on a Sunday night including where and when I have to take and pick up the children, and what trains I need to catch. Our routine is complicated and busy, but each day is different so you would think it would help. I then write another detailed to do list each morning so I know where I am going. But even so, by 10a.m. I find myself saying, 'it is Thursday, isn't it?' !!!!

I sent my mum's birthday stuff last week, convinced it was her birthday (15th) last weekend. Even sent her a birthday text. Luckily she found it quite amusing!!

Reminds me of the moment you wake up after your op.

What's your name?

What age are you?

What year is it?

Who's the prime minister"

Etc etc.

I still can't answer 11 yrs down the line
